Easy to use.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages: Not always helpful for struggling readers.<br><br>For ELL: Provide images to the students to help them categorize. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: Used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and to build curiosity<br><br>Advantages: Has students build on prior knowledge. Lets student see and compare their thinking from before and after reading the text.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages: Not always helpful for visual learners. Could be time consuming depending on the evidence from the text provided by the student. Students could have trouble finding the correct answer in the text.&nbsp;<br><br>For ELL: Provide pictures on the work sheet. give a definition of the more difficult words in their native language or in English if they are advanced but just haven't come across the word yet. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: A word map used to help expand vocabulary by categorizing words in a web.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>Advantages: Great for visual learners.&nbsp;Gives students a map to follow to help with later learning. Builds on prior knowledge. <br><br>Disadvantages: Can be time consuming. Could be confusing depending on how many items are added to the map. <br><br>For ELL: Next to the words on the map, provide pictures that go with the written word. This would be called a Pictorial Map.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: A grid to help kids explore how sets of things are related&nbsp;<br><br>Advantages: Nice for visual learners to see how things are related. Easy to use.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages: Difficult for non visual learners. Could be difficult for vision impaired students depending on how large the boxes are.&nbsp;<br><br>For ELL: provide pictures next to the words like the picture below. It has a picture of the shape nest to the English word. Also write the name of the shape in their native language depending on have long they have been learning English. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Vocabulary Self Selection (VSS)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: Let students look through the specific text that the class is going over and have them choose a word they do not know or are unfamiliar with. They then get to research that word and can make a prediction about what they think the word means before looking up the real definition. Then have them try to use the word in a sentence. They will be more likely to remember this word later on because they chose it and looked into it. &nbsp;<br><br>Advantages: Good for non visual learners. Easy to teach how to use. Allows students to take control of their own learning.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages: Not the best for visual learners or students deterred from book work. Can be time consuming depending on the students and the words chosen. <br><br>For ELL: Have the ELL student look into a book in their own language and fill it out will them. Or provide them with a word and a image to help  them get started. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Visualizing Glasses</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: Students read their book and draw on some glasses what they "saw" in their heads. On the rim of the glasses the students will write what adjectives they read that described the image.&nbsp;<br><br>Advantages: Good for visual learners. Creative outlet.<br><br>Disadvantages: Not good for non visual learners. Can be time consuming&nbsp;<br><br>For ELL: Allow the students to write the adjectives in their native language. Help them by providing the adjectives in their native language incase&nbsp; they haven't come across the word yet. </div>]]></description>

For each word them must roll a dice and do what the number represents.&nbsp;<br><br>Advantages: Is good for all types or multiple intelligence learners. Easy to use and make.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantages: Dice are easy to lose. More advanced learners could be bored. Not always good for expressive words or words that would have no image. <br><br>For ELL: Provide the vocabulary word in English and in the students native language.</div>]]></description>

Not good for students without fine motor skills. <br><br>For ELL: Provide cards with the words on them and when the card is lined up correctly the back can have the image of the compound</div>]]></description>

         <title>Cause and Effect Flip Book </title>

They then draw a picture of the cause on the top of the flip book tab and then they draw the effect on the inside of the flip book. <br><br>Advantages: Easy to use when finished. Good for visual learners. <br><br>Disadvantages: Time consuming to make. <br><br>For ELL: Students may need help identifying cause and effect. Help to provide the text in their native language if nessary. </div>]]></description>
