A severe cold spell hit London in 1952, citizens burned more coal in order to stay warm in the extreme cold. Later that day an extreme cloud of fog rolled in staying for five days. Everything in the city shut down because the visibility was only one foot; meaning you couldn't see your own feet while standing. While London was covered in fog more than four thousand people died, along with cattle. This left people n shot after the fog faded; the deaths revealed that it was deadly. The pollution combined with the fog harmed many people and caused the citizens to realize how much pollution they emitted.

I believe that this event was important because it caused people to be aware of what their putting into the environment. They began to reduce the amount of coal they used and took care of their environment more than before. If this never happened the earth would probably be worse than it is today.

I can reduce my carbon emissions, not leave my car running for so long, and use other items in my house that leave carbon emissions less.

I believe that we should continue to be aware, needing an horrible event to occur for us to pay attention to the earth, we should be aware all the time and take care of the earth on a daily basis.
