New Zealand: Rugby

There is a long history of sumo wrestling in Japan, with prehistoric origins. It can be traced back to ancient dances and rituals. From 710-1185, it became a popular spectator sport. It is Japan's national sport, and its oldest. It continues to be popular to this day.

Curling is a very popular sport in Canada. It was brought to Canada from Scottish Immigrants in the early 18th century. The international curling federation was founded in Canada in 1966. The first recorded curling match in Canada took place in Montreal in 1807.
