Extending on what we learned about the experiment and the connection we made, as a group, we know that we would never go as far as obeying someone if what they are asking is morally wrong (to us) however, in general, it was very shocking to learn the extent in which people would do certain things if they were told. Through learning about this, we realized that it's vital to always question whether or not what you're doing is right or wrong

Extending on the article, it is now easier to understand why the holocaust might have taken place and how it even happened. Because of the strong authoritarian figure that were present at almost all times, people may have had no other choice other than to obey their commands whether it was executing people or working excessive hours. When the people in charge dehumanized the Jews, all empathy left the workers and made it easier for them do such horrific acts. This goes against human nature because it goes against our nurturing tendencies and replaced them with sociopathic ones.

Extending off this article, the experiment can exemplify how some actions that are unethical and unacceptable to society can become acceptable to some people. This happens because we can be influenced by our peers and others who we respect and look up to for guidance.

Extending off this article, it said that in a group discussion, students said that they would never go past 135 volts during this experiment. They thought that they would quickly disobey the doctor because it was inhuman to shock a person that intensely. In reality, there was not a test subject that did less than 300 volts. We do not know how far our obedience to authority will go until it is put to the test. As for the part about believing that 135+ volts is inhumane, test subjects believed that the doctor, not them, was to blame. They get mentally disconnected from their own actions because an authority figure ordered them to do it.

We could now understand why genocides occur more commonly now as people do what they are told since they believe the authority figure in their lives. We disconnect ourselves from the accomplices in these genocides and blame it all on the authority figure even though we could have stopped it. You tell yourself that you aren't a psychopath and that they are however, everyone has the tendency to cause harm to others if told to do so.

Extending on this experiment, it is shown that some of the "teachers" had sympathy for the "learner". These teachers knew that there could have been a maximum capacity of 450 volts but only went to around 120 volts for psychologists. Even though people have the power to damage the kids in this experiment, they choose not to because of the empathy connected from teacher to learner. Only someone with truly immoral values would go so far as to use the maximum voltage for a mere experiment.

Extending off of the experiment, it is clear that people are fearful of disobeying an authority figure. They are so scared that they are willing to inflict pain upon others to make sure that the authority figure is obeyed. This gives an explanation for how people can do such horrible things. Because if there is an authority figure giving orders then the horrible task is the the authority figure's fault. This can be extended to the Holocaust fairly easily. The guards will do horrible things because in their minds anything that happens is because of the orders of the authority figure. In their minds they are guilt free.
