What we learned about doing research on Asian American culture is that microaggressions can still be prevalent even if it's even almost considered positive to some. An example of this is "Asian people are just smarter than everyone else", imitating accents, or the exploitation of Asian Woman(Sue, Bucceri, etc., 2017).

Something that is not talked about much is the collection of Asian people in internment camps in 1942 (Death of a Thousand Cuts, 2021). Asking where someone is from, or asking someone to help with a math problem because they are Asian are all settled jabs into the bigger problem of making racial assumptions (Chan, 2021).

Some ways that we can be active as social workers in the issue of racism against Asian Americans is to bring awareness that Asian Americans, along with many other racial groups, have suffered racism, genocide, and presently microaggressions. Not partaking/speaking up to those who make offensive remarks relating to Asian culture.

Asian American Advancing Justice is an organization that fights for the rights of Asian Americans. Their main goal is to create an America that is an America for all, and not separated (AAJC, 2021).

Stop AAPI Hate is a campaign against racism. The point of their campaign is to end racism against Asian American people and bring awareness to the community about the hate, and violence that Asian Americans face presently (AAPI, 2021).
