https://au.reachout.com/articles/tips-for-getting-and-staying-motivated
I chose this video because it was the first response on google when I searched "How to stay motivated", or at least the first response that was an ad. I didn't however, choose this to take the easy path, I wanted to choose an article the represents what is presented to the public and that is most seen, to get an idea of what most people will receive when they search up a question such as "How to stay motivated". This article keys into a similar point that Thomas Frank made in his first video, which is that the most common and most often utilized way to stay or get motivated is to think of both the rewards and consequences of an action, and then make a decision based on the outcome while weighing it against our potential distractions, which fight our motivation.

I chose this video to be in contrast from the first. Not only is it a much more niche video by a company that I specifically am familiar with and sought out, but while having the same general idea of what I was looking for, it is intended for a completely different audience (employers motivating employees) and for me will represent a side of this topic that someone who does not specifically seek out will rarely if ever see. Because of this, the motivation tactics I got from this are a lot more unique, and are ones that I did not see come up often in other mainstream articles on the first page of google, which all had very similar ideas and concepts in line with the first article I linked. This article, aimed torwards employers looking to motivate and keep motivated employees, highlighted the importance of a connected team, one that is not only important in ones work (or academic life) but involved at home as well, so that it is much harder to put off and much easier to communicate with and relate to. Another focused on point is that it is significantly easier to keep momentum doing something than to break it up into chunks. This does not mean not taking breaks and becoming a zombie, but it does however mean trying to do work or get something productive done such as checking and organizing your calendar daily. This keeps you from missing important information along with keeping you more involved, motivated, and interested in the work you have to do. While this article was short, it managed to touch on some much more unique points and concepts than someone who did a more shallow search would normally come across, the two I mentioned not coming up in the prior three videos at all, and that is an important thing, and it demonstrates what I picked this video for. This is that diversity is different in multiple levels, not just in what you pick but in how you search for what you are picking from. This can mean sourcing ideas not only from multiple places, but multiple types of sources, especially more traditional ones which have now become uncommon, such as talking with or interviewing available persons, even family, or maybe running your hands through a cold hard paper book once in a while. A large diversity in all parts of life is important, it allows new views to be realized and new connections to be made. In doing this search, I simply attached "Vox", one of my favorite sources from which I was watching youtube videos just hours ago, to my basic search of "How to stay motivated" and not only did I get a more unique response, I also saw other sides and Vox as a company, and made the connection that they serve as a productivity facilitation and marketing strategy informer for other companies, which will affect and shape the view I have of every one of their videos I watch now to help me form a more full and rounded understanding.
