We are challenging everyone to pay forward a random act of kindness! We not only sent our postcards but sent some encouraging stickers that we hope will motivate and inspire others to pass on an act of kindness! She had told me that she had family problems and that she had been through so much. She also told me that she had lost friends and she felt bad because she thought it was her fault for losing them, when it really wasn't. I decided to write her a letter saying how amazing and tough she was for going through all her problems. She was very thankful when I gave her the note. I gave her a big hug and told her I'm sorry for what she has been through and that she was going to get through it and that I am/was going to be by her side to support her. She thanked me again and said that I'm a good friend. To this day, she still asks for advice on not just friends but on family things too.
This made me feel really good about myself because I know that she can trust me on anything. We were called the buddies club and would meet once a week at different parks around our community. My friends and I enjoy spending time with these kids and watching them grow over the years because it is interesting for us to play with a different preschooler each week, getting to know their personalities and how they are doing before moving on to a new child. we like to discover how they are different and the same as us and teach them things. It was good for these kids to come out and play with us because not only did they get to play with us but they got play in the company of each other as well. This experience has opened up so many other doors and volunteer opportunities for me including babysitting clients, other younger kids club teaching and helped me realize that in the future I might want yo be an aid or a teacher. The parents of these kids are incredibly friendly and kind. they threw us a thank you pizza party at the end of the summer and made each and everyone of us a handmade water bottle. To be honest I only kind of consider this a random act of kindness because I enjoy doing it so much. I love everyone of these kids like a sibling and have enjoyed watching them grow over the past 3 years. As much as I have helped them, they have also helped me. They made me discover my passion for helping people, given me a smile and gave me something to do all summer. Helping them makes me feel excited that I can make a difference in there lives and makes me really think about some other things that I might want to do in the future. But most of all I wish to continue meeting with them year after year, not only has this experience grown me closer to them but it has also grown me closer to my friends. we grew close at these events.
