The theme songs would surround my head allowing me to open my mouth and sing them. I didn't know it at first, but I really did love to sing. As I sung the theme songs from my favorite childhood movies, I suddenly became very good at it. My parents would always tell me to please quiet down when I was in the flow, but I kept singing. It opened up a new passion in me that allowed me to escape from all the stress the circulated my life and allowed me to feel happiness in something that I really enjoyed expressing my talent in. As I continued to watch and express talent through my singing, I began to memorize the movie lines being said from the videos advancing myself to have a bit of a photographic memory while also acting. Either way, watching creative children's animation movies opened up a new performance and musical entry in my life.

This shows my passion for singing because this is how a new gateway began to open in my life showing how fun singing really is.

It was so great to learn a new language and express the language through culture and writing. I can remember that I didn't really enjoy music class when practicing the recorder or listening to musical note lectures, but I remember very vividly that I always loved to sing Chinese songs in class. I can remember how me and my class all had so much fun chanting out the songs we've learned and even sining solos. I was naturally very shy back then to sing for anyone, but once i sung my solo to "Beijing Welcomes You" It was enchanting and didn't feel scary anymore. This gave me more confidence to perform anything in front of others and in multiple languages too.

Plus, I was surrounded in a pack with tons of other kids that were relatively OK at singing, so I had some backs to hide behind. However, I strongly remember the first time I decided to do something new and perform a song in front of a real stage in front of real people. This was the "4th Grade Variety Show" where anyone could perform a magic trick, talent, or song. It was so nerve racking walking upon that stage knowing all odds were against me, but I knew that me and my best friend Katie were ready. As we performed the song "Rewrite The Stars" by the Greatest Showman, my danced to out choreography and performed. At the end of the performance, I was shaking, predicting that everyone would stay silent, but instead, real people clapped! They actually clapped! That day, I knew that I could sing well despite hoe there might be a challenge to face.

This shows my passion for singing because it's combining confidence and performance with sining. My new friends are especially nice, the subjects and learning experiences are great and it truly  feels like a community. This year, I have an especially kind and fun friend group who are in chorus together. I really feel even better sining along side them because it truly feels fun and not forced. In addition to that, we sing with silly fun happiness and like to blend our voices together to create harmony. We also love doing solos and duets together while also mixing it in with a bit of humor and friendship. This year was a bit different however. We performed every Friday on the high line to the people walking by which makes me feel that we are creating more of a community among one another. It's also nice when there are a variety of our voices sining to make the performance unique and intriguing. In addition to that, it's great whenever we can just share a laugh while sining which really brought us together. However, in addition to friendship, I feel that it gives me a great dose of confidence to performance in front of an audience each week to get me to feel more confident with my performance and mixing my head-voice and even chest-voice together. Chorus and sing also gives me a chance to escape the stress surrounding my life and using new techniques to improve while having fun.

This shows my passion for sining because it's mixing my passion for friends and education to make it even better.
