These objects are part of a larger installation that addresses the emotional response an object can have over a human. Jane Bennett in her book Vibrant Matter suggests that humans are not the only active participants and that all things have the capacity to " animate, to act, to produce effects dramatic and subtle" (Bennett, Jane, Vibrant Matter, pg31) Bennett believes everything is alive and interconnected. This work has long been influential in my practice. For me it is the subject matter addressed in an art work that s influential in the development of my own work. The discipline that they work in be it painting, printmaking, sculpture and so on is secondary to this.
