The total mass of all asteroids would be less than our moon. Asteroids are different from comets, which are mostly rock and ice. Comets are characterized by their tails. Astronomers use asteroids and comets to chart the evolution of the solar system. The majority of the material that comprised our solar system, including Earth, did not survive. Only a small percentage of it fell into the sun or was ejected beyond the reach of our most powerful telescopes, forming the planets.<br>A tiny stony object that orbits the Sun is known as an asteroid. A meteor occurs when a small piece of an asteroid or comet, known as a meteoroid, enters Earth's atmosphere and burns up.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today I learned about Comets Meteoroids and Asteroids. I have learned that comet is consisting of nucleus, dust tail, ion tail, and coma. It is a cosmic snowballs of frozen gases, rocks and dust roughly the size of a small town. I also learned about asteroid as a minor planet of the inner solar system, it's composition is c-type, s-type and m-type. And lastly i learned about the difference between meteoroids, meteors and meteorites.&nbsp;<br><br>Others:<br>Trojan Asteroid- it is an asteroid belong into one of two groups which orbit the sun at the same distance as Jupiter, basically it is orbiting in the orbital path of jupiter.<br>Halley's Comet- it is a periodical comet with an orbital period of about 75 years.<br>Oort Cloud- where long period comets come from (more than 200 years)<br>Kuiper belt- where Short period comet come from (less than 200 years)<br>Asteroid belt- where most asteroids located.<br><br>IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING THESE HEAVENLY BODIES<br><br>This heavenly bodies are the remainders of material for in the coldest part of our solar system. It is believed that they brought a water and a variety of organic molecules the earth and impact of these heavenly bodies are played a major role in the evolution of our earth.</div>]]></description>

Comets, which are made up of dust, rock, and ice, are frozen remnants from the birth of the solar system. This material produces a tens of millions of mile-long tail. Asteroids are stony asteroids that circle the Sun. Although asteroids circle the Sun in the same way as planets, they are considerably smaller. Meteoroids are rocky or iron-based objects that circle the sun in the same way as planets, asteroids, and comets do. Meteoroids, particularly the small particles known as micrometeoroids, are abundant throughout the solar system. They are rocky inner planets that orbit the sun, as well as gas giants that make up the outer planets. What makes a meteor, a meteoroid, and a meteorite different? They're all connected to the flashes of light known as "shooting stars," which may be seen flashing across the sky from time to time. However, depending on where we are, we call the same thing by multiple names. Meteoroids are space objects ranging in size from grains of sand to small asteroids. Meteors are fireballs or "shooting stars" that enter Earth's atmosphere (or that of another planet, such as Mars) at great speeds and burn up. A meteorite is a meteoroid that survives its journey through the atmosphere and lands on the earth.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Balunes, Jan Noel S.<br>BSED 2D<br><br>What I have learned from today's lesson?<br>- Today, I have learned the difference between Asteroid, Meteor, Meteorite and Comet.<br><br>Asteroids are rocky objects smaller than planets that remained after our solar system formed. Much of the remaining material from the gas and dust cloud that formed our Sun went into forming the rocky terrestrial and gas giant planets that orbit our star. Asteroids are made up of smaller dust fragments that never made it into planets.<br><br>Comets, like asteroids, are made up of leftover material from the formation of our solar system and formed around the same time. Asteroids, on the other hand, formed closer to the center of our solar system, where temperatures were higher and only rock or metal could stay solid without melting. Comets formed at greater distances from the Sun, beyond the frost or snow line and past Mars and Jupiter's orbits, where temperatures were cold enough for water to freeze.<br><br>An asteroid that tries to land on Earth but is vaporized by the Earth's atmosphere is known as a meteor. The rock's temperature rises as a result of the resistance it faces from the Earth's atmosphere. Meteor showers occur when the Earth passes by a large number of meteors at the same time, and we call them "shooting stars" when we see the glowing hot air created by these burning meteors. For example, if chunks of a comet melt away as it approaches the Sun, the debris can be left behind to dazzle Earthlings with a meteor shower later.</div>]]></description>

Stars, planets, satellites, asteroids, meteorids, and comets are among the celestial bodies. Planets are celestial bodies that do not have their own light and heat. I've learned the parts of the comets and these are Nucleus, Coma, Ion tail and Dust tail. And even the dwarf planets, Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, Eris and Pluto. And also the differences of comets, meteoroids and asteroids.<br><br>Importance of Meteoroids, asteroids and comets.<br>&nbsp;Asteroids formed at the same period as other objects in our solar system, scientists may learn a lot about the evolution of planets and the sun from these space rocks. Scientists are interested in comets because they are primitive bodies left over from the solar system's origin. They were among the first solid entities to form in the solar nebula, the collapsing interstellar cloud of dust and gas that gave birth to the Sun and the planets. Asteroids, comets, and meteoroids are vital to the solar system because they are the primary raw materials for planet formation.          <description><![CDATA[<div>For today's lesson, I've learned about the differences between Comets, Asteroids and Meteors that is part of heavenly bodies. Comets are made up of rocks, dust and has an icy shell that revolves around the Sun then sublimate (solid to gas state). Asteroids are fragments from moons, planets and comets. It has also C,S and M types where Chondrite are the most common asteroids that composed of clay and silicate rocks. Stony type asteroids are made up of silicate materials, iron and nickle while Mettalic type of asteroids are made of iron and nickle. Let's differentiate Meteoroid, Meteors and Meteorites. Meteoroids are piece of rocks that haven't enter on the Earth's atmosphere. When a Meteoroid enters the Earth's atmosphere, we call it Meteors or shooting star because it burns up and when it landed on Earth's surface, it's now called Meteorites and it was as size of a pebble.&nbsp;<br><br>There are types of Asteroids, the trojan and near-Earth asteroids, located in orbital path of Jupiter and near the Earth respectively.<br><br>Asteroids are considered as the building blocks of the planets that why it plays a role in our Solar System.</div>]]></description>

Those are the following: <br><br>___________________<br><strong>COMETS</strong>- are large celestial bodies made from ice, dust, and rocky material covered by an icy shell. It travels in an elliptical orbit around the sun originating from either the <mark>Kuiper belt</mark> (short period) or <mark>Oort Cloud </mark>(long period). As it travels near the sun, it undergoes sublimation by which, its "<em>nucleus</em>" causes its envelope: "<em>coma</em>" to glow. it has 2 distinct tails: the "<em>ion tail"</em> comprised of charged particles and the "<em>dust tail</em>" made from the debris of the Sun's radiation.<br><mark>*Halley's comet:</mark> one of the most famous comets that visit Earth every 75-79 years<br><br>___________________<br><strong>ASTEROIDS- </strong>are also called "minor planets"; made of metals and rocky materials. The largest known asteroid is <mark>Ceres </mark>which is now categorized as a dwarf planet. Although it also orbits the sun, asteroids are comparably smaller than planets. These heavenly bodies has variances that makes them unique to others.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Comets are a cosmic snowball of dust, rock and covered by icy shell, and when comets passes through Sun it sublimates, as well as they orbit in elliptical orbit or circular shape.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In other hand, asteroids are like comets but they do not comprise of ice, asteroids are minor than planets and most of them are located in asteroid belt.&nbsp;<br>    Furthermore, meteoroids are fragments of rocky debris that is smaller than asteroids, and they are commonly known as space rocks because they do not have the chance to enter Earth’s atmosphere.      Moreover, meteors are also called shooting star, these are a bits of debris that burn up on the Earth atmosphere. But some of the meteorites are pieces of asteroids.&nbsp;<br>• Meteoroids is far up in our sky, it is a stony or metallic debris travel through outer space, but some of this directed to Earth. It is usually small than asteroids and contain less water and ice than comets.<br>• Asteroid are small and rocky objects that orbit the Sun. Mostly they could found in the asteroid belt except for Trojan asteroid that nearly shares orbit with planet Jupiter. The 4 largest asteroid: Ceres, Vesta, Pallas and Hygeia.<br>•Comets is a cosmic snowballs of frozen gases, rock and dust that orbit the Sun. While Asteroid are rocky body smaller or sometimes called minor planets, it composed of dust, rock and metal that orbiting in Sun between Mars and Jupiter within the main asteroid belt.&nbsp;<br>Shooting star that we usually see are not meteor already but firstly it is meteoroid and then become meteors. Just like other object meteoroid have a process. Meteoroids are small asteroids which can we think as "space rocks". They are in top of Earth's atmosphere. And when meteoroids enter on our atmosphere the fireballs we called as "shooting star", we wish on it to become true and that is the Meteors.          <description><![CDATA[<div>For today's lesson, I have learned the difference between the Comets and Asteroid and their exact location as well are the differences between Meteors, Meteorite and Meteoroid.&nbsp;<br><br>Comets are dust, rock, and ice remnants from the birth of the solar system. They range in size from a few miles to tens of miles across, but as they get closer to the Sun, they heat up and spew gases and dust into a luminous head the size of a planet.&nbsp;<br>Perhaps the most famous comet in history is Halley's Comet. Halley's comet may be the only comet visible to the naked eye that appears twice in a human lifetime. The last time that happened was in 1986.<br><br>Asteroids are tiny rocky bodies orbiting the Sun. Asteroids orbit the Sun like planets, but they are considerably smaller. Asteroids abound in our solar system.&nbsp; In our solar system, there are several asteroids. The majority of them are in the main asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter's orbits. Some asteroids pass in front of Jupiter and others pass behind it.<br>The Jupiter trojans, often known as trojan asteroids or just trojans, are a vast group of asteroids that circle the Sun alongside Jupiter.<br><br>The major distinction between asteroids and comets is their composition, as in, what they are made of. Metals and rocky material make up asteroids, while ice, dust, and rocky material make up comets. Asteroids and comets both created some 4.5 billion years ago, early in the solar system's history.&nbsp;<br><br>METEOROIDS, METEORS, METEORITES<br><br>Meteoroids are rocky or metallic pieces of debris that move through space, some of which are aimed for Earth.<br><br>Meteors are meteors that burn up in the Earth's atmosphere when you see a meteor shower in the sky. Angelica F. <br>BSED 2D</strong><br><br><em>What I have learned from today's lesson?<br><br></em>In today's lesson, I learned many things about the heavenly bodies that can be found in our solar system. Specifically, <em>comets, asteroids, meteoroids, meteors, and meteorites</em>.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>COMETS- </strong>are heavenly bodies like dirty snowballs in which they are composed of dust and metal rocks and are surrounded by a thick icy shell. These types of heavenly bodies come from two places in the solar system: <sup>1</sup><strong>Kuiper belt </strong>which is the origin of many short-period comets in the solar system, and the other one is the <sup>2</sup><strong>Oort cloud </strong>which is the origin of the long period comets in our solar system. In addition to this, comets orbit the Sun in a highly <strong>elliptical orbit.</strong><br><strong>Halley's Comet </strong>is the most famous comet. This comet was last seen in February 1876.<br><strong>Parts of comets:</strong>&nbsp;</div><ol><li><strong>Nucleus</strong></li><li><strong>Coma</strong></li><li><strong>Ion tail</strong></li><li><strong>Dust tail</strong></li></ol><div><br><strong>ASTEROIDS- </strong>the second heavenly body discussed earlier—are rocky objects smaller than planets that were left over from the formation of our solar system. They are also known as "<em>minor planets</em>."<strong> </strong>These are made mostly of rock, with some clay, silicate, and different metals (nickel and iron). Most asteroids are located in the <strong>main asteroid belt.</strong> <br><strong>Trojan Asteroid - </strong>shares Jupiter orbital path.<br><strong>Near Earth Asteroid - </strong>have orbits that pass close by the Earth.<br><strong>Three broad composition classes of asteroids:</strong></div><ol><li><strong>C-type (</strong><em>chondrite</em><strong>)- </strong>most common asteroid. Consist of silicate rocks and clay.</li><li><strong>S-type (</strong><em>stony</em><strong>)- </strong>made up of nickel-iron, and silicate materials.</li><li><strong>M-type (</strong><em>metallic</em><strong>)-</strong> made up of nickel-iron.</li></ol><div><br><strong>METEOROIDS - </strong>these heavenly bodies are the rocky or metallic fragments of the planets, asteroids, and comets that have not yet entered the Earth's atmosphere.<br><br><strong>METEORS -</strong> are commonly known as "<em>shooting stars.</em>" If meteoroids were heavenly bodies that didn't enter the Earth's atmosphere, but meteors would, because these are the meteoroids that heat up in the atmosphere, which later form light that can be seen by our naked eye. <br><br><strong>METEORITES - </strong>these are the heavenly bodies that have already reached the Earth's surface.</div>]]></description>

Meteors are fireballs or "shooting stars" that enter Earth's atmosphere (or that of another planet, such as Mars) at great speeds and burn up.</div><div><br></div><div>A meteor is a bright streak in the sky created by a meteoroid crashing through the atmosphere of Earth. Meteoroids are rocky or iron-based objects that orbit the sun. Asteroid collisions produce the majority of meteoroids, which are tiny rock pieces. As they orbit the sun, comets produce meteoroids, which are dust and debris that fall to Earth.</div><div><br></div><div>A meteorite is a rock that falls from space to Earth. Asteroids, tiny stony rocks that orbit the Sun principally between Mars and Jupiter, make up the great bulk of meteorites.</div>]]></description>

Some, like asteroids, orbit the sun and come around in regular intervals.<br>Meteoroids are the somewhat small, rocky or metal-based objects flying around space, typically unseen except with sophisticated equipment. They are often fragments of asteroids or comets.<br>Mateors are the meteoroids that enter Earth’s atmosphere, where they often burn up meaning they can often be seen with the naked eye. This is what we sometimes call a shooting star. When there are a lot of them at once, we call it a meteor shower.<br>Meteorites are the meteoroids that have made it all the way to Earth’s surface. <br>Asteroids are rocky objects that vary in size, but on average they’re between the size of a meteoroid and a planet. How they work in different ways , How they differ from each other and what is their purpose especially the meteoroids, asteroids, and comets.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>And the importance of heavenly bodies such as meteoroids, meteorites, comets, and asteroids is that ,It aids in the discussion of major issues. It studies the birth and development of the universe, as well as the evolution, physics, chemistry, meteorology, and motion of celestial objects. We may learn about our origins, our future, and how physics works in situations that are hard to replicate on Earth by researching the cosmos beyond our own planet. Humans have looked to the sky for guidance in navigating huge oceans, determining when to produce crops, and answering concerns about our origins and how we arrived here throughout history. It's a practice that can change the way we see the world by opening our eyes, giving us context for our place in the universe. As our knowledge of the world grows, we find ourselves and our perspective of the world becoming increasingly interwoven with the stars. The discovery that the basic components found in stars, as well as the gas and dust that surrounds them, are the same elements that make up our bodies has strengthened our bond with the universe. This connection has an impact on our lives, and the wonder it evokes is likely one of the reasons why astronomy's magnificent visuals are so popular in today's culture.</div>]]></description>

Comets, asteroids, and meteoroids are all put together in this lesson because they are all fundamentally the same thing: little chunks of rock and/or ice that aren't part of a big planet. Metals and rocky material make up asteroids, while ice, dust, and rocky material make up comets.
