    Sweden has lots of ore such as copper, gold, hydropower, iron ore, lead, silver, timber, uranium, and zinc.


    Sweden has over 10 million people. Stockholm is the biggest city with about 1.5 million people. 88% of Sweden is urban.


    The biggest natural disasters in Sweden are storms. Being on the baltic sea, there tends to be flooding when these storms hit. This is because Sweden is high fairly far north and between seasons the cold and the warm weather can cause a higher frequency of storms

    A current environmental issue that is going on in Sweden is deforestation and overlogging. Most Swedens logging is done using a clear-cutting technique. This is where whole areas of trees are cut down at once. This is an environmentally harmful practice because it destroys large portions of ecosystems at a time and leaves them bare.  One of the main problems with the industry is that it claims to be one of the most sustainable logging industries in the world. It turns out that only 3% of all logging in Sweden is done in an environmentally conscious way. This affects the people of Sweden because it decreases the health of the land which can cause a lot of environmental issues.


     


    Food insecurity is about 1.3% of the population. This number has been going up year by year probably because of the high immigration rate. Sweden has done a good job of accepting immigrants and providing the resources they need. As of recent, they have been wearing thin and have not been able to provide adequate food for these Syrian immigrants

  • The Czech Republic operates on a parliamentary republic system. This means that they have a president who is the head of state and a separate prime minister that is the head of the government.

  • The Czech Republic has a national police system that deals with basically everything.  They don't have a regional police, but what is called municipal police wardens that deal with things like traffic and public order. 
  • Since they are a parliamentary system they elect their president by the popular vote, but the president elects the prime minister.  There has been some disagreement when it comes to elections, but overall they're pretty peaceful.

    • The country is facing many disputes including refugees, internally displaced persons, and illicit drugs.

    • France is in a territorial dispute with Madagascar because they are trying to claim different islands that is technically French territory. France is also asserting a territorial claim in Antarctica. 
  • Are people emigrating or immigrating to this country? Why?
    • There is a lot of emigrating and immigrating. A lot of people have been moved around lately especially because of the war in Ukraine. Because of this, there have been a lot of refugees coming to seek shelter in France.

    Overview: In the last ten years, France has developed a high-income rate. They have also advanced and diversified EU economy and euro user because of the strong tourism that France acquires. They have developed aircraft manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and industrial sectors. One negative part of their economy is the ongoing pension reform protests. These have increased the amount of trash in the cities as well as a lot of upset citizens. There is also a high amount of public debts and COVID-19 spending increases. There is a global environmental leader as well. 


    GDP: $3.048 trillion Compared to a lot of the other countries in this region, Frances GDP is way higher than the other countries. 


    Industries: machinery, chemicals, automobiles, metallurgy, aircraft, electronics, textiles, food processing, tourism. France is mostly taking advantage of the large amount of tourism that occurs every year.

The main issue that Sweden is facing is opposition to joining NATO. Sweden wanted to join NATO after Russia invaded Ukraine and Russia is not having it. They have told Sweden that this will lead to Russia targeting military operations at Sweden. People are immigrating to Sweden right now. The country has historically been very accepting of lots of middle eastern immigrants from Syria when there has been turmoil. They export motor vehicles, pharmaceuticals, production equipment, and home goods to name a few. over the past 10 years, their GDP has steadily increased by about 5 and a half percent a year. This is because they export a lot of goods so there are lots of jobs that keep the economy going. Their GDP is 635 billion USD which is higher than Norway at 482 billion USD and Switzerland which is 800 billion.     Sweden is a constitutional monarchy. The power is given to the people and they hold an election every 4 years to elect leaders. It is made up of a parliament of 349 people that the people of Sweden vote for. The people of parliament propose a prime minister and they vote on that person to be elected.

    Sweden is a part of the united nations and also a part of the European Union. However, they are not part of NATO as of now. They are an independent state and have been for hundreds of years.

    Sweden follows a traditional legal system like most countries in the European Union. Everyone has a right to a trial in Sweden and the right to an attorney in court. 


    Every 4 years Sweden holds elections in the parliament that the people vote on. Those elected parliament members then elect the prime minister. This is usually very peaceful with some expected political turmoil.
