While it may not be "illegal", this district needs to, via policy, implement some protections for us. I have a couple of students with 20+ absences. There needs to be some accountability beyond losing credit, as the students just see EDGE or Summer School  as a means around that. Perhaps make it where Summer School or Edge are only available to those who attended and still failed?

It is completely ridiculous!  Students see it as a joke. the shorts cover not much. the shirts & dresses are to sexy. I thought we were preparing these students for the business world. Yes, I know we have security for major issues but it is not always a big event outside of distracting others. Can we create a "class" NC students can go to so they do not help others in the same class fail as well? I think this will also help deter students from hitting the NC mark so they do not have to change classes to something else like a "NC class". Maybe even a "class" that cleans up the campus and athletic facilities so they can be somewhat productive. This will also keep them in school and off the streets while stopping them from being disruptive... I think we need to have a policy where students cannot recycle their work.  This includes writing a paper in 9th grade and turning in the same one for credit in 10th grade. If they did this in college, it would be a form of plagiarism and an issue with academic integrity.
