-  There are a variety of tags adapted to different species.
-  They have mortality sensors to monitor if the animal has died.
-  They have a release mechanism so they can be taken off the animal easily.

Cons:
-  The signals can be affected by the weather and physical features such as buildings.
-  Often run out of battery life so signal is lost.
- Could make animals more prone to predators as the device could make the animal more noticeable to them.

- Cheap.
- Easy to apply.
- No harm to the animals.
- FUN!
- They don't necessarily need to be sedated for it.

Cons:
- Easily lost.
- Dependant on public sitings.
- Public may remove them if they're not aware that it's a tracking resource.
- Increases visibility to predators. 
- Some animals may eat the materials used e.g beads.

Cons:
- Can be painful if done wrong 
- can migrate away from ingection site which makes it more dificult to locate 
- may need to be updated
- to read the chip you physically catch the animal which can cause stress
