         <description><![CDATA[<p>The temple founded in 1980 serves as a temple, offers language and dance classes, and serves Thai cuisine brunch every Sunday. "Songkrang" or Thai New Year is held annually at the temple along with food, dancing and other festivities. It serves as a cultural and spiritual space for Thai and other communities as well.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>(1982-present) </p><p>Originally opened on university ave. then moved to a larger location on Shattuck Ave. </p><p>The restaurant has been a place of cultural history for over 30 years serving meals to students and community alike. Plearn retired a few years back the restaurant is still run by the family.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>(1984-present)</p><p>Created and founded by volunteers in the middle of Oakland's Chinatown. Due to the large Thai community in Oakland various Thai cultural events and festivals are held here. In addition to that they offer programs and workshops to school tours, classes, and exhibitions. Oakland's asian branch of the library is also in the same building. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Sam and Yun have been running this grocery store for over 30 years. It's one of the few Southasian grocery stores that carry ingredients, condiments and other specialty foods from Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. They accept snap/ ebt and also have some pre-prepped dishes in addition to cooking ware for specific dishes.</p>]]></description>
