They appear to be parents and young adults of mixed gender.

The demographics of the self-harm support group were inferred from handles of thread creators. 67.5% were considered female, and 20% male, while 12.5% held gender-neutral handles.  The analysis incorporated text from both victims of self-harm, and those offering support. This could be partly due to moderators on the Self Harm forum removing triggering content. Also, more posts in the ASD forum were from family members, while the majority of posts in the Self Harm forum were by self-harmers themselves.
