(By first grade they should be introduced to a few different examples of charts)
Second start handing each child needed utensils or objects for this activity.
Next direct each child to count the total amount of skittles and write the number on the back of their paper
Then have them flip it over and instruct them to write a circle on the front page for a pie chart.
Continue to have each child assort the skittles in groups by color.
After That have each student place the colors around the drawn pie chart outline by the colors they separated
Direct the kids to then draw lines with the same color crayon as the skittle, starting from the outline to the middle until you have made a complete pie and each color is on the chart
Finally explain to the children to then fill in the chart using the correct colors and write down how many skittles out of however many they originally had in each colored spot!
