         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Objectives</em></strong></div><div>To understand at least 3 different components of fitness and relate them to a sport. &nbsp;<br><br></div><ul><li>All learners will identify 3 - 5 different components of fitness and give a sports example for each.</li><li>Most learners will discuss 3 - 5 different components of fitness and give a sports example for each.</li><li>Some learners will examine why different components of fitness are important for that sport.&nbsp;</li><li>Some learners will identify different components of fitness in a single sport.&nbsp;<br><br></li></ul><div><strong><em>Methods<br></em></strong><br></div><ul><li>Power Point and discussion to introduce 5 different fitness components and what they are.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Paired work to research a definition of each fitness component and which sports they are predominantly present in.</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Practical activity as a group using various exercises to demonstrate different fitness components and how they feel including:</li><li>Attempt to touch toes keeping legs straight (flexibility)</li><li>Stand on one leg timed competition, close eyes to make more challenging (balance)</li><li>Wall sit, legs maintained at 90 degrees timed competition (stamina)</li><li>Throw and catch a ball in a circle (coordination)&nbsp;</li><li>Continuous skipping/ jumping/ jogging (aerobic endurance)</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Ask they group during/ after each exercise what fitness component were they practising.</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>A video showing different sports and ask the group to:</li><li>Identify which components of fitness are being used in each sport</li><li>Why they are important in that particular sport?<br><br></li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong><em>Assessment (poster to be constructed throughout the lesson along with individual questions and group discussion)<br></em></strong><br></div><div>Create a poster that includes:<br><br></div><div><br></div><ul><li>At least 3 different fitness components</li><li>Write a brief description of each</li><li>Give a sporting example for each component</li><li>Explain why those fitness components are important to that sport</li><li>Is there more than one component of fitness in one particular sport?&nbsp; If so, what?&nbsp;<br><br></li></ul><div><br></div><div>A variety of learning styles and different teaching methods are incorporated to support different learning needs and styles and to maintain learner interest and engagement.&nbsp; Assessment takes place throughout the session and the poster is supporting evidence.<br><br>Lauren Singleton&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
