I think yes, that situation can actually happen to some teachers. This might happen if a teacher doesn’t show that he/she has the control of the class, that he/she can’t manage it and doesn’t know how to.

A teacher would try to stop that behavior by trying to catch their attention with passive words, and if it doesn’t work, tell them either two things: that he/she is going to punish them and call their parents or that they are going to play a game. I think that the last one is more suitable because they are young children and they would be willing to play, this will help them to discharge their energy and be calmer and predisposed for the following activities, in addition, they will gain more confidence with the teacher.

I believe that being firm in your position as teacher helps to prevent this kind of situation, you must not look scary but amicable and comprehensible. Also, as I said, doing warm-ups– to discharge their energy and activate their brains for knowledge–.

Yes, those kinds of situations are very common, not a generalization, but they can happen to any teacher. A reason might be that teachers are very soft with their students and they didn’t set a regulation at the beginning of the course/class.

A real-life teacher would tell students something to calm them down, or at least turn the situation a little bit the situation, where the teacher can gain control over the classroom and manage the class to a pacific environment where scholars can learn. It would be essential that the teacher intervenes at the beginning of the issue, so he/she can avoid having bigger problems.

I think it would be appropriate, to prevent those behaviors, to have principles established and visible in the classroom, so everyone can remember them. As well, make them know that if they break the rules, they might have a punishment. Nonetheless, both things (rules and punishments) need to be approved for both parties, students, and teachers. On the other hand, it would be nice if the teacher implemented a warm-up with the students, where they can get motivated and engage in the lesson.

I remembered something a teacher told to my classmates and I: "kids are like dogs, they smell fear and if you don't show confidence about yourself they are going to eat you alive". A class can turn into situations like the video due to not establish rules inside the classroom and due to not having a learners' profile.
What Flanders should had done was establish his rules in when he came in the classroom and the consequences being serious about it and he should have had preparation.

Absolutely. Sadly, some teachers go through similar situations during their teaching life. Sometimes, it does not depends on teacher's behavior or a "weak" teacher, but on how clear are the rules when the course just started.

In real-life situations, teachers are used to disciplining their students as they are an authority figure, which makes it a better envirnment.

I truly believe that classroom rules must be set when a teacher just meets their students, as well as showing yourself strong-willed. Likewise, a balance is essential, both for students and teachers, they must be as respectful as possible to each other.

I think the situation can come to this many times because the teacher does not show stage presence or authority in the classroom.

To avoid a situation of this type, the teacher can present rules of etiquette in the classroom, he/she can be friendly but show respect and authority at the same time, and if a student is causing chaos, he/she can draw attention to his behavior in a clear but polite way.

Due to the lack of authority by the teacher that means he doesn't have the control of the class.
To deal with this teacher needs to assign a series of activities to keep the students cooperanting, establish rules to maintain the order, also be clear about what students are going to do and at the same time create a respectful environment between teacher and student.

Yes, it is completely real that a class starts with the disorder, it is very important to take control of the class, an attitude of authority.

Create Consistency., Students of all ages will react positively to a consistent approach to discipline... so is very important to make sure punishments and Rewards Are Clear... the rules in the classroom. Don't reward disruption with attention, keep things exciting...

Discipline problems challenge most new teachers and even some veteran educators. So I think is very normal, but it is very important to take the control of the class. Good classroom management combined with an effective discipline plan helps keep bad behavior to a minimum so the entire class can focus on learning.

Classroom rules must be easy to understand and manageable. you don't have such a large number of rules that your students can't consistently follow them. For example, in kids. The kids, sometimes forget the rules, so... you can give more instructions easy to follow for the students.

•Do you think the clip shows a real life classroom situation? Of course it is a cartoon and it might be consider to be exagerated for entertaiment, but the truth is that not only does it reflect some real life situations, but some are even worst than what is portrayed on the show.
•Why do you think a class could turn into this? In my opinion this happens when there is not a good combination teacher-students, also when the teachers are to lenient, try to be friendly in excess, do not care about their students or the job, has a large number of students, etc. There is not just one reason why this could happen, it is just a bad combination of situations.
• Mr. Flanders was just "trying" being a teacher, but what could a real teacher do to deal with a classroom situation like this?Of course trying is important but it is not all there is, Mr. Flanders did not have the education to teach so that was one big NO, also he tried to be too friendly, students' should feel close to their teachers, but they should never forget that the teacher is the head of the classroom, there needs to be a sense of respect and bounderies.
•How could a teacher prevent this kind of situations to arise? Have a well planned class, detect the students needs, know what the behavior is and teach the students that there are consequences to all actions.

Well, I feel that this is a tough question because if I had a classroom like this I feel like I would cry, but I would not leave the room, I think I would try with attention getters and since the first day prevent the students from reaching that degree of disorder. Let the students know that we as teacher have the authority, but that does not mean that we are going to punish them in a bad way, but that in class they are rewards but also rules to follow.

Do you think the clip shows a real life classroom situation?
Absolutely I do, of course is a cartoon and not all of the things that happened there are accurate to real likfe situations, but there is something very real abou it, and that is the confidence you must have when you're a teacher, if you don't have it, it will be impossible to have control over your class

Mr. Flanders was just "trying" being a teacher, but what could a real teacher do to
deal with a classroom situation like this?
I think that the first thing a person should do is use his knowledge of class management, starting with a attention getter for example

How could a teacher prevent this kind of situations to arise?
I think that all teachers should be prepared for everything, because if you walk into a classroom expecting a desired result exacly how you want it to happen, I can almost assure you it won't work.

It depends on how teacher manages the class, because the same group can behalf with one teacher correctly and gently, but with another teacher can be as in the video.

I believe that a class can turn into that because teacher doesn’t know how to manage a class, he/she doesn’t establish limits, rules and self confidence.

Well, the first thing you don’t need to do it is begging to them that they need to stop, you need to make them stop. You can establish some aspects to do if someone do something that is wrong, or it is not proper to your class. You can see him/her with fear, giving him/her a report, etcetera.

Making some pacts with the students.

I think it does show a real case; those kinds of situations are very common, I feel that especially when you are starting out. As seen in some of the activities we did in C.M. Agreements should be made between the T and the Ss, rules and sanctions should be established and agreed upon by both parties. As well as discussing a possible reward from time to time, when agreements are kept to the letter.

Often we do not know how to act in the moment, again, especially when starting out. Maybe you study it, but when you apply it, suddenly there are gaps in your mind and you don't know what to do. In this case, he didn't act, and we don't judge him, it has happened to all of us, or it could happen to us.

Yes, it could be a real situation and even more if the class is for kids, they tend to be more active and sometimes that allow them to be a bit unrespectful with a teacher.

To deal with a situation like this a teacher has to learn how to treat with the average student of the age that he/she is teaching, then the teacher must create a classroom management plan and of course an appropriated environment for the learners to avoid any similar situation.
