El propósito de este artículo es proporcionar herramientas conceptuales y pedagógicas para integrar el tema del lenguaje inclusivo (LI) en el currículum de las clases de español LE/L2 y de español como lengua de herencia (ELH). Adoptamos una perspectiva crítica que expone la complejidad del tema desde dos diferentes perspectivas: la normativa y la sociolingüística. Las herramientas conceptuales incluyen: a) la definición de LI, b) las propuestas actuales de LI en español y c) las perspectivas y posiciones generales desde las cuales se analiza e interpreta el LI. Las herramientas pedagógicas funcionan a modo de sugerencias didácticas para acercar a los estudiantes a la complejidad del tema, fortalecer sus habilidades argumentativas, expandir su competencia transcultural, su conciencia lingüística y social, así como promover su propia agencia como usuarios del español. La información que aquí presentamos también lleva a reflexionar sobre las dinámicas relacionales entre docentes y estudiantes y colegas con una diversidad de identidades de género, incluyendo miembros y no miembros de las comunidades LGBTIQ+ dentro y fuera del aula de español.

In our sixth episode of this series, host Emma Aviet talks to Dr Charlotte Bosseaux, Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies.

In the episode, Charlotte talks about her journey to Edinburgh, as well as her current research on the ethical demands of translating accounts of trauma, such as gender-based violence. This project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), focuses on the testimonies of non-English speaking women and explores the ethical role translation plays in transmitting their experiences of trauma.

We get to hear about the dynamic and collaborative demands of Charlotte's project, which will result in the creation of a multilingual documentary and provide good practice guidelines for translators, translation companies, filmmakers and charities. We also learn about Charlotte’s past research on the uncanny nature of dubbing, and the many actors who have lent their voices to stars like Julianne Moore and Sean Connery.
