Tina Turner was born into a sharecropping family in rural Tennessee. She began singing as a teenager and, after moving to St. Louis, Missouri, she loved the local rhythm-and-blues scene. She met Ike Turner at a performance by his band, the Kings of Rhythm, in 1956, and soon became part of the act.

Later years

In her 70s, Turner experienced several major health issues. Three months after her marriage to Bach in 2013, Turner suffered a stroke. In 2016, she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. The next year, she had a kidney transplant, and Bach was the donor.

Tina Turner was married to Ike Turner who was a bandleader, singer and producer, who she initially rose to fame with as the musical duo behind The Ike and Tina Turner Revue. They were married in 1962 until their divorce in 1978. After 27 years of being in a relationship Tina Turner and Bach got married on July 4, 2013.The wedding took place at their estate in Switzerland with over 200 friends and family members in attendance.
