         <description><![CDATA[<p>An isotope is an atom of the same element, meaning that the number of protons does not vary but has a varying number of neutrons in the nucleus.</p><p><br/></p><p>Different numbers of neutrons in a nucleus can cause slight changes in the element's physical properties hence they can be separated using physical methods such as fractional distillation or density. There will also be changes in kinetic properties for gasses as diffusion will slow down as the atom is heavier.</p><p><br/></p><p>Forensic is a method that uses the study of isotopes to locate a person's geographical location over years if you know the abundance of different isotopes in different geographical locations.</p><p><br/></p><p>In different geographical locations, the abundance of different isotopes is different. Your body is full of naturally occurring elements but these atoms in your body are replaced now and then as your cells keep shedding and being replaced by the new ones. So if you are living in another location where the abundance of another isotope changes. So if you live there for a while, the abundance of that isotope in your body would change to whatever is it for that geographical location. This is best detected in your hair. and using the forensic method, they can find the abundance of one isotope in your hair and hence find the corresponding geographical location you have recently been to for a while. I feel that this science is extremely useful for detective purposes.</p><p><br/></p><p>Drinking a lot of carbonated drinks can disguise your geographical location to forensic methods because they contain various abundant isotopes that are in hydrogen, oxygen, sodium, and carbon. These elements have many abundant isotopes and are very common in your body so they can overwrite the geographical location your body tells through forensic methods.</p><p><br/></p><p>I thought that using forensic methods would be an extremely useful method to get a person's geographical location but there are also ways people can use to overwrite the information their body will give through forensic methods by consuming a lot of atoms.
