         <description><![CDATA[<div>Socioeconomic status is a major factor contributing to student achievement gaps.<br>Recent research indicates that by far, socioeconomic status (SES) has the strongest correlation to cognitive scores than any other factor.  Other factors are Student race/ethnicity, ELL status, and special education status.</div>]]></description>

One surprising way is arts education- music, choir, and creative expression that allow a student to feel successful can promote learning in other areas. <br>Other methods shown to close the gap are early childhood education and literacy programs, career and technical education, project based learning, and supportive classrooms.  </div>]]></description>
