Back in 2019, when I first started defining what a great life looked like for me, I scribbled down “swim with great white sharks.” It felt bold. Adventurous. It also felt like something cool I could one day do with my oldest son, our resident marine biologist.

Fast forward to today, and while that goal still gets my heart racing, I’ve come to see it for what it really is: not a lifetime goal, but a meaningful step toward two of my bigger Great Life pillars—being a great father and being a great adventurer.

Last weekend, I earned my Open Water Diver certification after some early-morning shore dives at Back Beach in Rockport. The water was cold, the gear was heavy, and I was tired—still I felt completely alive.

Why? Because the goal was never really about sharks. It was about connection.

It was about being a great father—cultivating deep, lasting relationships with my kids that go beyond food, shelter, and school pick-ups. My oldest son and I have always shared a love for the ocean—and now, we get to explore it together in a whole new way.

And it was about being a great adventurer—someone who’s energetic, open to new experiences, and embraces the unknown.

The scuba gear is just the uniform. The real story is the life I’m building in it.

As the year comes to a close, we’re doing something a little different - on purpose.

Thursday, December 18, 2025 will be our last business day of the year, as our team heads into our annual retreat on Friday and then a planned year-end closure.

We close for the final weeks of the year because we believe great work requires rest, reflection, and intention. It’s a way to reward a team that gives their best all year long, to create space to recharge, and to make sure we return ready to serve our clients with clarity and energy in the new year.

Clients with urgent matters will still be able to reach us during this time, and we’ll be back in full on January 5, 2026.

It may not be traditional in our profession, and that’s exactly the point. Taking care of our team is how we take great care of our clients.
