         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br>When preparing for the personal tutor role it is important to consider various factors that will effect the needs of the individual learner . These factors often interlink with one another. <br><br><strong>Social-economic</strong></div><ul><li>Students may be concerned about ecomomic barriers to progress through the education system.&nbsp;</li><li>Some class activities, e.g. Kahoot require students to have a Smart phone which may place some students at a disadvantage.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Cultural</strong></div><ul><li>Learner may come from a personal background where education was not valued, which will effect their attitude to learning.&nbsp;</li><li>Some students may be ESOL which can make it difficult to participate fully within a lesson and difficult to produce written work required for the course.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br><strong>Personal background</strong></div><ul><li>Learners will have to find a balance between study-work-life and many learners may have to make child-care arrangements.&nbsp;</li><li>Students may face resistance and lack of support at home regarding education.&nbsp;</li><li>Students may have care commitment, including house work and shopping, that impacts their attendance.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br><strong>Work history<br></strong>Learners may need their current employer to consider shift patterns and rota&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Educational achievements </strong></div><ul><li>Adult learners may well have been out of education for a number of years. This will have an impact of both their confidence when it comes to learning, and their ability to use ICT.&nbsp;</li><li>Students may consider they 'can't do' or have 'failed' at education is the past and will need to develop a growth-mindset when it comes to their taking responsibility for their learning. This may translate into a lack of aspiration for the student to advance to university.&nbsp;</li></ul>]]></description>
