         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hormones are chemicals that allow messages to travel the body through the blood stream or other fluids, hormones are effective during a long period of time, however it requires the body to secrete a chemical which can then be spread.<br>What do they control?<br>Hormones allow messages to be conveyed and alter specific perimeters of the body.<br>Examples<br>the pancreas produces insulin which is vital for allowing glucose to enter the cells, if the pancreas does not produce sufficient insulin, or the insulin is no longer effective, then the glucose levels continue to rise and then you get diabetes.&nbsp;<br><br>the Pineal gland (also known as the thalamus) produces serotonin which promotes sleep and helps create a sleep cycle.<br><br><br>-Christian&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
