The Cyber Effect: by Mary Aiken, PhD

Read the book "The Cyber Effect" by Mary Aiken, PhD. Written prior to the pandemic. Still extremely applicable, maybe more than ever. It helped me to stop, take a step back, and reflect. The most powerful section for me was her discussion of babies and toddlers. Children. I stayed home with 4 kids for 10 years, mid-career. Interesting reflection point for me. She does a good job discussing the world around us and giving pause.

It's a well-written and insightful starting point to this conversation, which is part of the problem here. I ask: where do we start and what's our reference point? For me, I was part of the original 1:1 program in D20 and hired to help integrate and support iPads at PCHS. My perspectives are different than many others. I live and breathe tech, I spend most of my hours in IT PD, and teach it everyday to high schoolers.

This book has helped me to pull back and take a hard look at digital technologies, from the perspective of an expert in "Cyberpsychology" and cyber forensics. Very comprehensive.
