The moment media heard of the tragic event that occurred to O.J Simpson, individual all over the world were surprised and mind blown. News networks were in charge of creating a spectacle and to change people's perspective towards Simpson. It became a catastrophe to the eyes of those who thought of him as a good person, a elusive since no one understood what was really happening. Due to his way of acting and thinking, his lack of control led him to commit murder. This peripeteia, allowed Simpson to become the target of many individuals, by criticizing his actions, making him widely known as a notorious person. In the case of the famous Hamlet play by Shakespeare, the character Claudius, felt the necessity to make an incorrect decision over a complicated situation. Both of these characters, acted incorrectly due to the fact that they felt the need to have power over the victims and therefore they became possessive and jealous.

.

O.J Simpson is most famously known for his outstanding ability to play in the American football field. In fact, he was often called “Juice” or “orange juice” (due to his initials) since he was extremely energetic when running. Simpson won the Heisman Trophy in 1968, which helped him gain fame as a two-time All American Halfback at his college and setting NCAA records. The following year he was number one draft choice of the American Football league, Buffalo Hills. Later, Orenthal James enjoyed multiple records leading him to even more fame. An example of this is when, in 1973 he became first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a single season. After retiring from professional football, he decided to join the acting world in 1979. He appeared in films such as The Klansman and The Naked Gun. O.J Simpson once said, “The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start to the top”. This quote shows how evident is his amount of dedication and perseverance you have to put into something, in order to be successful in any field. However, after the murder of his ex-partner Nicole Brown, everything he had achieved rapidly went down.

Even though good news are attractive to the public, many studies have proved that human beings are usually more attracted to negative news. Therefore, the media is in charge to publish the dark side of things, in order to gain more audience. Readers, can easily create their own version of the story while making mystery out of it.

Real world characters can be related to fictional characters due to their tragic flaws that led each individual into their own downfall. In the play Hamlet, , Simpson can be compared to Claudius, which is the uncle of the main character, Hamlet. When it comes to Claudius and O.J Simpson, both characters show guilt over the action they have done. This is conveyed in the line “Oh, my offence is rank. It smells to heaven. It hath the primal eldest curse upon ’t, A brother’s murder. Pray can I not. Though inclination be as sharp as will, My stronger guilt defeats my strong intent, And, like a man to double business bound,I stand in pause where I shall first begin,And both neglect." (Act III Scene III). In this quote, Shakespeare uses Catharsis to demonstrate Claudius ‘moment’ of emotional relief by confessing his sins. Moreover, he states that at that moment, his guilt is stronger, even more than his own intentions of killing. Similarly to O.J Simpson, in were he wishes to have a second chance and repeat things differently, rather to be stuck in a horrible situation. Furthermore, this character can be compared with O.J Simpson when Claudius demonstrated his opinion towards Hamlet. He says that Hamlet is not acting in a correct a way and he is concerned about his bad conduct. However, he personally believes that he as well needs protection for himself as shown in the quote. “It will be laid to us, whose providence. Should have kept short, restrained and out of haunt, this mad young man. But so much was our love, we would not understand what was most fit" (Act IV Scene I). The use of pathos that the author uses, allows the audience to feel pity towards the actions Hamlet had done, but also, this quote demonstrates how Claudius also thinks of his personal benefit and he says that his love for him is too much that he would not like to think what he would do to him in a difficult situation.
