My name is Heidi Carrillo and I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in Long Beach and it is still where I live. I am working towards obtaining my B.A degree in early childhood education. I received my associate's degree from Long Beach City College. I am a teacher for the Long Beach Unified School District Child Development Centers. I loved school and had the best teacher in kindergarten that made my experience that much better. He had a quote by his desk that I did not understand until I was older. It said "Teachers plant seeds that grow forever" which is something I think is so important especially as an early childhood educator. We are the ones who instill children with the desire to learn and enjoy school. We set the foundation that helps them develop academically, socially, and emotional. I have always loved children and being able to help them learn new things. I want to make a difference in the lives of the children who enter my classroom by creating an environment that is positive, nurturing, and welcoming especially working in diverse communities. I enjoy weight training and it has turned into one of my passions. I have learned how to be disciplined and consistent but have also found something that helps me manage everyday stress.  I am constantly challenging and pushing myself to get stronger and overall healthier.
