My current belief on teaching and learning is that teachers can learn from students as much as students can learn from teachers. Teachers give kids the tools to do great things in the world. I believe that teachers have the ability to spark motivation in students and help them believe in themselves and their potential.

My belief on teaching is that you need to be actively involved with the children you are teaching and the information you are providing them. Being excited about it can get them excited about it and they will feed off of the energy you have. Along with this, I believe you need to give praise for effort and not just if something is "correct".

My belief on teaching is to love and learn. It's more than just teaching. Some of these kids don't have a safe place or an adult who cares about them, and every kid should have an adult who loves them and that they can go to. I want to be that person for the students that need that. I believe you should be the teacher you want your students to be.

My current belief about teaching is that you really need to get to know your students and have a relationship with them before they will learn as much as they possibly can from you. I know this to at least be true in Early Childhood Education. Without a relationship, how can a child feel safe with you and ask their burning questions? I also think it's important to admit when you taught something incorrectly and go back to reteach it. It's good for kids to learn how to own up to their mistakes and then correct themselves.

My current belief on teaching is that creating a space where students feel safe and comfortable in being themselves will bring about the most learning. I know many students who felt rejected by their classmates or teachers and consequently engaged less in their schoolwork. Accepting each individual student for who they are, how they learn, and supporting them when they make mistakes will create a better learning environment.

My belief on teaching is that in order for the students to want to learn they need to feel comfortable with the space they are in. My current belief on teaching is that you should have an open heart when the students come to you. You need to be passionate about it because you may become the students safe place, or person. School may be the only place they feel safe coming to, and we should always acknowledge each student individually, which is why I believe you have to be passionate and have a pure heart coming into the teaching field.

My current belief on teaching is first obtaining and building a relationship with students. A safe space needs to be created so students can feel comfortable to contribute. I create an environment of making mistakes is ok because that is how we learn and grow. Each teacher should approach students with an open mind and open heart. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This is such a tough profession that we have to be flexible in our teaching and practices and being willing to admit our mistakes.

My belief on teachers is that they need to form relationships with their students. If the teacher knows that most the students are hands-on learner, that teacher shouldn't assign a reading assignment to teach them, they should find a way to make it fun and interesting that is also hands-on. Most kids remember informational stuff if you make it fun for them. I still remember random stuff about Abe Lincoln from our wax museum we did in elementary school. The point being is that the teacher should try to get to know their kids as much as possible to be not only a teacher but a friend.

My current belief on teaching is that students feel passionate about a topic they are learning when the teacher feels passionate too. Students are likely to feel disconnected and disengaged from a lesson when the teacher does not show enthusiasm about the topic. For example, many students find math to be confusing and boring because the teacher does not make the subject fun through activities and lesson plans. Teachers that teach to engage rather than to spew knowledge make students feel motivated and excited to learn.

My current belief on teaching is that the amount of effort a teacher puts in, dictates the amount of effort the students are going to put in. Obviously it is not one to one with the amount of effort, but a teacher who is willing to change their style to meet the students needs, or create individual connection with their students is more likely to have eager and excited to learn students. If the teacher is not excited to teach it, then students won’t be excited to learn.

For example, some are visual learners while others may prefer something more hands on. Teachers should have a great relationships with majority of their students because that is the best way students will open up and ask questions about what they are learning. I also believe that if teachers are not engaging or involve the students in many things, students will feel disinterested and disconnected with the topic that is being taught. Learning can be very fun if teachers make learning fun, if they just talk for an hour the students will want nothing to do with the class. It is important that teachers understand the way young students learn while aligning with how the teacher can teach and get points across.

My belief about teaching is that your curriculum needs to be developmentally appropriate and engaging for the age group you are working with. Teacher-student interaction is also incredibly important, making sure the classroom is a safe space for the students and that they feel comfortable is essential! Being a source of comfort and stability for the children in the classroom encourage them to be more open to the material being taught and to seek you out for assistance if they don't grasp the material. Overall, successful students stem from a classroom dedicated to learning, but also a teacher and classroom dedicated to the families and students they're working with.

My belief about teaching is that not everyone can learn the same. I am a very hands on learner and I did not know that until my sophomore year of high school and if I knew that sooner it would have saved me a lot of grief. I believe that teachers should not only help students find their best way of learning but embrace it if they can. Since there are so many learning styles it can be hard incorporating them into every lesson but understanding that not everyone can learn the same makes a world of difference.

I believe that many people outside of the education system believe that teaching is a very easy and simple job and tend to use it as a back up plan, as well as that anyone can become a teacher. However this is not the case, teaching is something you have to have passion and drive to do especially when dealing with young minds that are still developing and need a stable environment.

If a student is struggling it is the job of a teacher to try and help the student understand to the best of their ability.
