1st week of class, I give kids 5 callbacks to use 1st quarter. Depending on the grouping, it's fun to see which one that each class picks. This callback allows me to bring calm and focus to the room.

It's a simple norm but it sets the tone for respect, safety, and focus. If students know their voices will be heard without interruption or side chatter, the whole classroom culture shifts --- students feel valued, and teachers waste way less time playing referee.
