They come up with a creative way to fix the problem, but the teacher still gives consequences. This would be a great read around the holidays to remind students that we still have to focus on our work before we can take our break.

This book tells about the day the child was born in a poetic and calming manner. This book would be a great conversation starter with parents about the child's history. I would like to do a unit using this book where family members come in to be interviewed about their family history around the child's birthday. This can be tied to reading, but also social studies as we learn about different backgrounds.
