WWII started because Hitler decided to build up a army without anyone knowing. Hitler trained his pilots to use a technique called Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg later took over Poland pretty quickly. Hitler started to attack countries with his technique Blitzkrieg and it was working efficiently. Blitzkrieg was Hitlers key to taking over countries.

The allied powers were constructed of France, England(Great Britain), Soviet Union, and later on the U.S. The Axis powers were Japan, Italy, and Germany. The Soviet Union had a treaty with Germany but Germany ended up breaking it and attacking the Soviet Union. Italy was the first to drop out the war in 1943.

The U.S joined the war because of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Pearl harbor was attacked December 7, 1941 the same day the U.S joined the war. Japan attacked pearl harbor seeking to take over the whole pacific and weaken the fleet of the U.S. Japan thought of taking over the west coast of the U.S. The attack on Pearl harbor consisted of 353 imperial Japanese aircraft.

Marshall began the Marshall plan which gave western Europe close to 14 billion dollars. Rosie the Riveter encouraged many woman at home with her famous "We Can Do It" poster. Rosie was a wife at home that went from cooking to making weapons and tools that would help win the war.

D-Day was an all-together put attack onto German land. It was all land, air, and sea forces brought to one point of interest. The goal for D-Day was to recapture France from Germany. Without France, Germany was missing out on crucial resources that they needed. Slowly after D-Day, Germany was rapidly losing.

They had this because of the battle with japan, the U.S didn't want to get attacked unprepared from the inside again. Hollywood propaganda boosted the morale of Americans and they wanted to help out with the war. For a food source, Americans would help out with Victory Gardens, They would feed U.S soldiers, and American citizens.

Towards the end of WWII there was a conference with all three major leaders in Yalta, Soviet Union. The leaders knew they were gonna win the war and the U.S wanted the Soviet Union to join the war against Japan. on May 8, 1945 was VE Day, or the day that Europe won against Germany. Shortly after all this the Atomic Bomb was dropped on Japan in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. On September 2nd, 1945 Japan surrendered.
