    Betsy Read  -  She is Sams girlfriend and the daughter to Colonel Read.

    Colonel Read  - Father to Betsy Read.

    Tom Warrups -  He let Sam hide in his Tee-pee.

    Jerry Sanford -He unfortunately dies  on the prison ship.

    Mr. Beach -  A loyalist Preacher. 

    Mr. Heron - he claims to be a Tory but probably works for both sides. Heron asks Tim to relay a letter for him.
    Benedict Arnold  - He is captain of the Governor's Second Foot Guard.  

    General Putnam  -  The leader of the Rebels staying in Redding.

    Colonel Parsons  -  One of Sam's officers in Redding

    Mr. Platt -  Tim and Sams Uncle

    Ezekiel Platt  -  cousins to Sam and Tim


    Captain Betts  -  A local Patriot who is captured and then released by the British.

    Captain Starr  - A local Patriot who is killed by the British.

    Ned - A local man who is beheaded by the British.

    Dr. Hobart -  The doctor who healed the injured.

''My brother Sam Is Dead'' is a great book if you want to learn about a story based on the American revolution.  This book is appropriate for kids and very real life.  It has modern day problems and problems that would happen back then.  If I had to rate this book out of five stars I would give it four and a half stars.
