The Washington Square Arch was designed by Stanford White in 1891. The arch was originally made to commemorate the centennial of the inauguration of George Washington in 1789. It now serves as an important landmark within New York City, offering an aura of patriotism to all those who look up to it. To some, this is a sacred space, to remember one's history and glance at the beautiful architecture.

Understood to have been built around the sixth century, this tomb is one of many located in the catacombs beneath Rome. Many burial sites have been uncovered in these locations, these are similar to other architectural sites within this discussion as this too is a sacred space, one to lay the loved ones of those of the time to rest. I safe space to hold them in the afterlife. This post was originally found in Week 9 Discussion Post by Jourdan Hilton.

Estimated to date back to the 4th century, the Tomb of the Kings is a large necropolis, carved out of solid rock and with great precision it is now an incredibly important site to have been found. Believed to have been the burial site for aristocrats and high ranking citizens as well as officials, this is where it gets its name. The columns and unique carvings make is unique and even imitate the feeling of a home.

Entranced by displays of vibrant skies and brilliant clouds, this space is full of old work architectural design. It is elegant and unique and one of the most beautiful rooms within the building. Built in 1911, the reading room has been renovated since, it is said that no expense was spared and as you can see it is quite brilliant. Artist James Wall Finn is accredited to the restoration of the ceiling and truly invited it to be a safe and comforting space to all who choose to visit.
