Assalamualaikum wbt, our first week of usrah started off with taaruf session where we get to know each other well and make new friends.

After that, our usrah assistant told us about the topic of the day which is ADAB OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE;

• topic covers two aspects: outward manners and inward manners.

• Outward manners include revising, taking notes, asking questions, doing extra reading, and preparing before class.

• Inward manners involve having sincere intention, setting clear goals, showing respect to teachers, maintaining good character, and being consistent.

• The main purpose of seeking knowledge is to bring us closer to Allah Almighty, not merely to become a commodity.

• Therefore, learning is not only about knowing, but also about applying, living together with others, and ultimately shaping one’s true self as a human being.

As we know, there are 3 main stage that will prove us that we are a true Muslim which is Iman, Islam, Ihsan.

So for this week, we were thought about pillars of Islam.

What is the pillars of Islam?

1. Declaration of faith

   Which is the شهادة ; there is no god but allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah " أشهد ان لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أنّ محمّد الرسول الله"

   For us to be Muslim this is the most important thing that needs to be done as an evidence that we are a muslim

2. Obligatory Prayer

   Which is الصلاة ; pray five times a day ; subh,zuhr,asr,maghrib,isya', while facing the qiblah (kaabah in mecca)

   As Muslims, we should never forget about our prayer, since Allah had made it easy for us to pray, for example if you can't pray standing then pray while sitting or if you can't do both you can pray while laying.

   How merciful Allah is to us, but we always find an excuse or run from our responsibilities as Muslims.

3. Compulsory Giving

   Which is the زكاة ; Muslims give a portion of their wealth to give people in need.

   We must pay zakat every ramadhan.Zakat is the third pillar of Islam, which means a portion of wealth must be given when it meets the conditions such as nisab and haul.Zakat purifies wealth, helps the poor, reduces the gap between rich and poor, and strengthens social bonds in the community.

4. Fasting in the Month Of Ramadhan

   صوم ; muslims couldnt eat and drink from dawn to sunset during the holy month of ramadhan.

   Indeed Allah is the most just to all of his creations; from rich to poor. Allah wants his creations to understand the struggle of people who dont have daily capability to buy or search for food and water; for example, people in palestine right now. this is because Allah wants us to have the trait of symphathy so that there are no discrimination among us.

5. Pilgrimage of Hajj

   الحج; muslims who are able to perform a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

   Hajj is a journey of unity where Muslims from all over the world gather in Makkah, wearing simple clothes that remove differences of wealth and status. It reminds us of humility, equality, and devotion to Allah.

1. Believe in Allah SWT

   Allah created his creation with His Oneness; this is one of the truth about it:

   - Surah Al-Baqarah (2:163)

   “And your God is One God. There is no deity except Him, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.”This verse emphasizes the foundation of Islamic belief — tawhid (the oneness of Allah). It rejects the idea of multiple gods and affirms that only Allah deserves worship, and His mercy encompasses all creation.

   - Surah Al-Hajj (22:22)

   This verse describes the severe punishment for those who reject faith, showing how the disbelievers will suffer in the Hereafter. The contrast with Allah’s Oneness in other verses highlights that turning away from Him leads to misery, while acknowledging His power brings salvation.

   - Surah Al-Ikhlas (112:1–4)

   “Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. And there is none comparable to Him.”This short but profound surah explains Allah’s absolute Oneness. He is unique, independent of all, not part of any lineage, and beyond comparison. It sums up the pure essence of tawhid.

   there are 4 ways to apply this belief in our life :

   • regular 5 daily prayer

   • quranic reflection

   • observing the natural worlds order

   • believe in the way allah is described

2. Believe in Malaikat

   Islam teaches us about the origin of malaikat which is they are made of light and they submitting their lives fully to worship Allah SWT. They dont act or live like us humans; they doesnt eat, drink, sleep and all of the things that we need to survive. one of their tasks are records deeds deliver revelations, pray to allah and so on. If we believe that there is malaikat that record our deeds, we must be scared to do bad things.

   As Allah said in Surah Al-Infitar: 30;

   And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers 10, Noble and recording 11, They know whatever you do 12.”These verses explain that every human is constantly watched by angels, known as Kiraman Katibin, who record all deeds — good and bad. It reminds us that nothing escapes Allah’s knowledge and that every action will be accounted for in the Hereafter. This teaches awareness, self-discipline, and responsibility in life.

3. Believe in Kutub

   There is 4 kitab that allah had send to each of his messenger; kitab turath, zabur, injil, Alquran. But we must know that kitab other than alquran had been changed through the decades by alkafirun. So, we kow that alquran is the most sahih and wajib for us to make it our guidance in life because alquran is the most perfect kitab in islam and there is only one verse of quran in this whole world.

   Surah Ali ‘Imran (3:3)

   “He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel."This verse shows that Allah revealed the Qur’an with truth, as a continuation and confirmation of earlier revelations like the Torah and the Gospel. It highlights the unity of divine messages across time, that all came from the same source — Allah — guiding people to worship Him alone

   
   

   Alquran as dalil the truth of islam;

   • beyond human capability

   • fulfillment of prophecy

   • remarkable consistency in its message and teachings

   • contains scientific knowledge not known to humanity, indicating divine knowledge

   • challenges humanity to produces somethinglike his verse; an impossible challenge to humanity.

   • is a guidance for all aspects of life.

1. Belief in Qada' and Qadar ( pre-destination)

   A person is not a believer without this pillar.

   
   

   - Al-Qadar means knew, predetermined, and planned perfectly. It relates to things before happened and something you planed. technically, Al-Qadar refers to Allah complete knowledge that is written in the safe tablet, his will exist before the existence of all things and his creation of allah things happen by his command and will.

   
   

   -Al-Qada' means, judged, ordained, executed perfectly. when things happen, then it becomes Al-Qada'. Al-Qadar is before Al-Qada'.

   
   

   ✔ 4 components of Qada' and Qadar:

   1.Knowledge: Allah knows past, present, future, and what could have been.

   2. Writing: All is written in the Preserved Tablet.

   3. Will: Nothing happens without Allah’s permission.

   4. Creation: Allah creates everything, even life and death.

   
   

   ✔ Benefits of this belief

   1. Peace of mind, contentment.

   2. Focus on present actions.

   3. Strength, humility, and reliance on Allah.

   4. Removes jealousy/envy, builds good character.

   
   

2. Belief in Rasul and Anbiya'

   All prophets brought the same message: Tawhid — worship Allah alone.

   Faith in all prophets is required; rejecting one equals rejecting all.

   
   

   ✔ Roles of prophets:

   1. Guide people to Allah.

   2. Clarify life’s purpose & the Hereafter.

   3. Show the path to Paradise.

   4. Be proof against mankind on Judgement Day.

   5. Serve as moral role models.

   
   

   Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was uniquely blessed: sent to all mankind & jinn, earth as a place of worship, lawful war booty, greatest intercession, etc.

   
   

   Daily lessons: gratitude, patience, simplicity, forgiveness, equality, humility, moderation, repentance, kindness, accountability.

   
   

3. Belief in the Hereafter

   This world will end on the Day of Judgment (Qiyamah).

   All will be resurrected and judged by Allah.

   Good → Paradise. Evil → Hellfire.

   
   

   ✔ Significance:

   1. Core message of every prophet.

   2. Gives meaning to all deeds.

   
   

   ✔ Effects on life:

   1. Increases love for Allah & longing to meet Him.

   2. Inspires fear of accountability.

   3. Motivates good deeds & charity.

   4. Strengthens patience during hardship.

Worship as though you see Allah; it goes beyond obligatory acts into excellence and sunnah. It stands at the highest level after Islam and Iman. Some interpretations note that justice is sometimes emphasized even above ihsan (cf. Al-Isra).

Toward Parents

• Even the slightest complaint (like saying “urgh”) is forbidden.

• Obedience to parents is required, except if they command something sinful or shirk (cf. Luqman).

• Treat them well no matter how they are, but don’t depend on them excessively.

• Speak with respect, never harshly, and keep praying for them regardless of circumstances (cf. Ali Imran 104 and related verses).

BELIEF IN THE HEREAFTER

We must believe that يوم القيامة are going to happen, but only Allah knows when; but Allah send signs of it to us, humans so that we can do taubah as soon as possible; there are minor signs and major signs,

MINOR SIGNS

that already happened (many ongoing):

• Arrival of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his passing

• Widespread ignorance and loss of knowledge

• Drinking alcohol, zina, and music becoming common

• Tall buildings competing in height

• Slave woman giving birth to her master (sign of social upheaval)

• People boasting of wealth and clothing

• Widespread killings without clear reason

not yet fully happened (or still unfolding):

• Euphrates river uncovering a treasure of gold

• Return of land of Arabia to greenery and rivers

• Time feeling shorter, years passing quickly

• False messiahs and liars appearing before the Dajjal

• Widespread abundance so much that wealth will overflow

MAJOR SIGNS

None of them had yet happen for now:

1. The appearance of the Mahdi – a just leader from the descendants of the Prophet ﷺ.

2. The coming of Dajjal (Antichrist) – a deceiver who will spread great corruption.

3. The descent of Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) – he will defeat Dajjal and bring justice.

4. The emergence of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog) – powerful tribes that will cause chaos and destruction.

5. The three great landslides – one in the east, one in the west, and one in Arabia.

6. The smoke (ad-dukhan) – a massive smoke that will cover the earth.

7. The rising of the sun from the west – a reversal of the natural order, after which repentance will no longer be accepted.

8. The Beast of the Earth (dabbah al-ard) – a creature that will mark people as believers or disbelievers.

9. A fire from Yemen – it will gather people towards their final gathering place.

I also hope to apply the lessons learned in real life, not just understand them in theory. This includes trying to improve my daily habits, strengthen my relationship with Allah, and build better discipline in both my spiritual and personal life.

Preparation for Prayer with Khushu’ 🕌

• 🌿 In the third week of Usrah, we learned about the preparation for performing prayer with khushu’ (focus and humility).

• 📜 Prayer in Islam is governed by two main types of rulings:

⚖️ Taklifi Rulings (General Legal Rulings)

• Wajib (Obligatory)

• Sunnah (Recommended)

• Makruh (Disliked)

• Haram (Forbidden)

• Harus (Permissible)

🧩 Wad‘i Rulings (Conditional Rulings)

• Syarat (Conditions)

• Sabab (Cause)

• Mani‘ (Preventive factors)

• Sah (Validity)

• Batal (Invalidation)

🧼 Conditions and Preparation for Prayer

• 📖 We discussed the conditions for a valid prayer, which must be fulfilled before performing salah.

• 👥 The session also covered congregational prayer (solat jama‘ah), including its importance and basic etiquettes.

• 🕋 Emphasis was placed on fard prayers as the core obligation for every Muslim.

💧 Wudhu’ (Ablution)

• 🚿 Wudhu’ is a ritual purification required before performing prayer.

• ✋ It involves washing specific parts of the body such as the face, arms, head, and feet.

• 🕊️ Wudhu’ helps prepare both the body and the mind for prayer.

• ✨ Maintaining wudhu’ encourages cleanliness and spiritual readiness.

🌬️ Tayammum (Dry Ablution)

• 🏜️ Tayammum is performed when water is unavailable or harmful to use.

• ✋ It is done by using clean soil or dust as a substitute for water.

• 📖 Tayammum is a facilitation in Islam, showing mercy and ease in worship.

• 🌱 It allows a Muslim to remain consistent in prayer even in difficult situations.

• 🌿 In the fourth week of Usrah, we learned about khushu‘ in prayer, which refers to focus, calmness, and proper order (khushyah) during salah.

• 🧠 Khushu‘ means being fully present, both mentally and spiritually, while standing before Allah.

🌸 Ways to Achieve Khushu‘ in Prayer

• 📖 Understand the meaning of the verses and supplications recited in prayer.

• 🧹 Eliminate unnecessary thoughts and distractions during salah.

• ⏳ Imagine the prayer as our last prayer, which increases sincerity and seriousness.

✨ Five Key Values for Developing Khushu‘

• 🤍 Ta‘ah (Obedience)

  • Submission and loyalty to Allah.

  • Performing prayer with sincerity (ikhlas) and genuine intention.

• ⚔️ Jihad (Struggle)

  • Striving against one’s nafs (desires) and the whispers of Shaytan.

  • Maintaining focus despite internal and external distractions.

• 🔍 Muhasabah (Self-Reflection)

  • Regularly reflecting on one’s actions and intentions.

  • Thinking daily about what is good and harmful in our deeds.

• 🌿 ‘Ifah (Morality & Self-Restraint)

  • Practising modesty, balance, and self-control.

  • Avoiding excess and maintaining ethical behaviour in life and worship.

• 🌱 Tawadu‘ (Humility)

  • Lowering oneself sincerely before Allah.

  • Remembering that whoever humbles themselves for Allah, Allah will raise them.

🌙 Conclusion

• ✨ Khushu‘ in prayer is achieved through understanding, sincerity, struggle, reflection, morality, and humility, allowing prayer to become a meaningful and transformative act of worship 💖

Fasting (Ṣiyām) and Its Values 🌙

• 🌿 In Week Five, we discussed fasting (ṣiyām) and its spiritual values based on Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 183.

• 📖 Allah begins the verse with “Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū” (O you who believe), showing that faith (īmān) is the most essential foundation of fasting.

• 🤍 Fasting is an act of worship that depends on the strength of one’s faith, and it helps to strengthen iman before strengthening actions.

📜 Meaning of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183)

• 🕊️ “Fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you”

• 🌍 This refers to all nations before us, according to one interpretation.

• ⚖️ Fasting helps lighten the burden of responsibility as khalifah on earth by disciplining the soul.

• 🌱 “La‘allakum tattaqūn” means that fasting leads to taqwa (God-consciousness).

🌿 Understanding Taqwa

• 🛡️ The root meaning of taqwa refers to protection, precaution, and mindfulness.

• 👀 A person with taqwa is careful and conscious in every action.

• ✨ Through fasting, Muslims learn to control desires and avoid what displeases Allah.

🕌 Difference Between Prayer and Fasting

• ⏰ Prayer is performed daily, and focus may fluctuate.

• 🌙 Fasting is observed collectively during Ramadan, which strengthens awareness and commitment.

• 👥 Since everyone fasts together, Muslims tend to guard their fasting more carefully.

📖 Definitions

🧱 Obligatory Pillar: Zakah is a mandatory pillar of Islam for all Muslims.

🌱 Literal Meaning: It stands for growth, cleanliness, and blessing.

🤲 Purpose: To create righteous servants who contribute to the well-being of the community.

⚖️ Zakah vs. Sadaqah

📜 Zakah: Compulsory, formal, and has specific rules for amounts and timing.

❤️ Sadaqah: Recommended, informal, and can be given anytime in any amount.

📦 Scope: Zakah covers Fitr and Mal; Sadaqah includes all forms of giving like Infaq and Waqf.

🌟 Core Spiritual Values

⚓ Tawakkul (Reliance): Giving shows I trust Allah’s provision more than my bank balance.

📈 Divine Return: I believe that wealth given for Allah is never lost, but multiplied.

🤝 Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood): Zakah builds social unity and reduces selfishness.

💓 Empathy: It trains the heart to care for and love others in the community.

🔗 The Two Connections
