Not all of what we think "wildlife" is considered wildlife, so it's interesting for the students to learn. about this and apply these solutions to the different animals.

An idea that I have to build this alignment might be to go out and participate in their habitats and help to protect them.

It was engaging from the start with reviewing from the previous lesson, watching videos, and completing a chart. The class watched videos and read mini blurbs of the wildlife to help them gain more knowledge in the lesson, as well as help them answer the chart of "Protecting WildLife". The students are even able to elaborate on their knowledge through discussion questions after every reading where it allows the students to clearly understand what is happening in the lesson. With NGSS, the students are able to learn about their environment and the ecosystems that the wildlife in the city are living in and how they are able to protect themselves, their threats, or what people can do to keep them safe or bring about awareness to keep these species safe.

The reading may be the most confusing for some students, so the teacher can either break down the information or have more videos displayed. There may be a possibility that students would rather watch videos instead of reading.

Students can read the information, watch the videos, do their own research, and discuss their ideas amongst themselves. Once all of the groups are done, there should be a group discussion so all the students will learn from the ideas of their classmates, and not specifically from the teacher.

If they are confused about something, they typically know how to translate their confusion to the other students and grow together. If we broke them into groups or pairs, I would have the students build their own charts on how to save the animals with public education, closing off to people, building new structures, and passing laws.
