I'll start by talking about the video and how hipsters became a subculture due to how they became deviant to their society by doing though they were considered as a counter culture first. But recently, they have started to conform to society and also by doing so they have gained the label of sub culture. Connecting it to Egypt, I believe that there are hipsters but not alot and no im not one of them. And this video is connected to 2 cultural dimensions which are indivisuality and collectavism because hipsters arnt always sure and okay with being themselves around others and whether they should be different or fit in with the society.

I would consider the hippy culture to be a counter culture(mortaljourney, 2014) due to the fact that they originated by not conforming to society's norms. Because of that it is obvious it is a counter culture and even though they are growing as a culture i would still consider them to be a counter culture. In the case of hipsters they are growing as a society and starting to contribute society and therefor are becoming a subculture. I think they would fall into the indulgance and restraint catagory because they dont conform therefor if they were controlled they would have conformed with society. I think there are hipsters in Egypt and i am not very fond of them yet i respect the courage to deviate in Egypt. Finally i would think i am a hipster in a sense that i deviate from what is seen as a norm.

In modern culture today, hipsters are considered a subculture within the greater part of society. There are certain ideologies associated with the term “hipster”. Looks, Clothes, Personality, etc. Subcultures are created for those who don’t fit in or feel they don’t acquire a sense of belonging in typical mainstream culture; they want to embrace their differences, which then forms the “hipster” subculture consisting of people of similar nature. There are many hipsters in Egypt but to me they arent hipsters because they are hipsters for the sole reason of fitting in with the hipsters which ruins the whole point of being a hipster. This is most connected to indivisuality and collectavism, because hipsters are mostly confused of whether they should be there own type of person or fit in with the majority.

Hipsters do not usually identify themselves as hipsters, but their actions, clothes, music, and personalities characterize them. I don't really think that there are any "real" hipster nowadays. People just try to fit into that community, so they would be viewed as chill and laid back. At the beginning, hippies were considered a counterculture, as they were not common in any way. Their actions and everything about them contradicted the norms. Their individuality caused them to become alienated from their cultures. Since hipsters originated 76 years ago, things have evolved and so did they. The counterculture then turned into a subculture; hipsters are now more common. They're found in different countries, forming their own subculture.

Due to their individuality they were isolated from the rest of the community, however after a while, the people became familiar with thier culture, turning it into a sub culture. It is not a pop culture, because being a hipster is a minority culture.

Hipster don't usually self identify as hipsters but their lifestyle's and choices put them in a category that society defines as "hipsters". Their individuality is their most important cultural factor. In my opinion they started becoming a subculture when society started promoting individuals and everyone's sense of self so hipsters became mainstream and accepted.

it is very easy to identify hipsters. youd find them listening to indie rock, chill, wear specific patters and clothes, and value independent thinking. Today, in Egypt, there arent many hipsters. rather people trying to be "hipsters", hipster this and hipster that. i am not a hipster snd i would never be one because i just find them different and do not understand whats the purpose behind being a hipster. I think people just want to fit in so thy dont feel so left out. There is individualism in being a hipster as well a slongterm its being going on since 90s or smthg and normative because not a lot of people want to live like how we are living. Its too mainstream now which make is not counterculture and not a lot of people fighting it and its actually popular now and people wanna join just for the sole of joining. its a movement as well. they feel like they dont belong anywhere so they created a culture of their own and other people still join and thats what makes them subculture.

Hipsters were at first a very counter culture. They were living in their own way against the norms of society. People didn't really accept them, so they became their own thing. They started becoming a subculture by time when people started becoming more used to them and accepted them. There are not many hipsters in Egypt at all so i think they could be considered a counter culture as Egypt has very religious and conservative culture and hipsters are not accepted very well. Out of the 6 cultural dimensions, Hipsters can be considered individualism because they do their own thing, not like the norms of society.

Hipsters then started to increase and join the "posy" creating a larger culture full of people who had different and unique lifestyles which was considered as a sub culture. Individualism is one of the greatest culture dimensions that characterize hipsters as they have very unique views and clothing and everything they do is different than the norms.

at first hipsters were a counter culture refusing to conform at any cost but since then hipsters have become the popular thing to be as their culture became adopted by pop culture. they started getting viewed as eccentric and fascinating and people started joining the culture for the aesthetic which turned it into a sub culture and its on its way to becoming pop culture nowadays. the cultural factor that is most defined in that culture is individualism as they dress, act, speak, and live a lifestyle that is not parallel to what most people live like. such as not owning a phone in a culture that rampantly purchases iphones and is updated with the latest technology. there are of course hippies in egypt as no matter where you are in the world there wont be an entire society conforming or willing to conform. this is also true because there is no text book definition for what a hippie is supposed to look or act like but they are rather how they act within themselves not relative to what other people think of that. so even the simplest act of rebellion against societal norms can be considered a hipster thing to do. ie: why there are- of course- hipsters in egypt/

This video shows us the evolution of the hipsters. A hipster refuses to conform to anything. Hipsters are known for wearing the same. Hipsters are ironic because they wear winter clothes in the summer and in winter they wear summer clothes. I think of hipsters have been recognized by sitting together, wearing the same outfits and having the same tattoos. They are living the opposite of society, by wearing old hats when they are actually young. This makes hipsters a counter culture. Hipsters weren't accepted by anyone but themselves. In egypt it is known to be a religious country and yet there still are hipsters. People started identifying themselves better than everyone by driving fancy cars such as bmw. Hipsters can also be considered a subcultures because they are found in every country worldwide. No matter where you go, there will always be a group of hipsters in the country thinking they are better than you.
