Teachers are to use an M for missing. But that is only for work the teacher feels a student needs to do, not all work correct? Since the idea is to have students work on what they need and their needs might be different from other student’ needs.

Having maximum time allowed for students to submit or redo assignments 4 weeks from when assigned, doesn't this defeat the purpose of learning at their own pace?

Can this be longer than 4 weeks at teachers discretion? It can take a student months to realize or have an aha moment for example understanding (+) and (-) and/or combining.

To clarify M, it should be used for assignments that a student should complete. It is still okay to leave a blank for something that was given as an opportunity to show additional evidence, maybe in a different way for students who have trouble showing learning in the same way as the rest of the class.

If I give an evidence piece that only has part of the 2.0 scale score, can I still score it as a 2.0 even though, not ALL of the 2.0 requirements are checked off?

What do we do with the students who meet the 3.0 half way through the year and don't want to do any more?

If a student requires 3 pieces of evidence for a proficiency scale and has two evidence pieces marked with a M and one piece of evidence with a 2.5. What score will show up for the student and parent to view?

I require 3 pieces of evidence and required assessments so I would like for empower to show an "I" for incomplete for students who do not have 3 pieces of evidence and required assessments for each proficiency scale

Evidence versus practice

There are times when I need students to understand and practice foundational work that I lead them through, for example, diagramming sentences for the purpose of double object pronouns. Based on my pretest, students needed a lot of help with this grammar topic so I modeled diagramming and students followed along. Then they practiced this with partners.

I don't necessarily want to grade this but I need students to practice this. And we practice this with like 4-5 activities so help me figure out the best way to make these practice activities evidence
