The oracle has decided that Ikemefuna should be killed. Okonkwo then lies to Ikemefuna that he will be returning to his home village. A man then attacks Ikemefuna with a machete. After that Okonkwo had to cut the boy down since he doesn't want to look weak but he doesn’t want to do it at the same time since he loved Ikemefuna. This is a change which relates to conflict because it changed how Okonkwo acted and it was a conflict since Okonkwo does not want Ikemefuna to be killed but he was forced to. After the attack it affected Okonkwo since he sinks into depression, he feels weak, cannot sleep or eat. “Okonkwo did not taste any food for two days after the death of Ikemefuna” [page 46].  “He did not sleep at night” [page 46].

Gender is so coded into every aspect of Igbo society that Okonkwo loses his patience with Ezinma when she fails to sit like a woman. This is also a sign that Ezinma sometimes trespasses into the realm of men with her unfeminine actions.

          This is showing that the people judged and disliked the white men pretty much because of the past and what has happened. In though Mr. Brown seem to start to build some bridges and reach out to the people, here is a new white missionary and they are telling him they will harm him because he is with Mr. Brown, but the church.
