Winston is a middle aged man who is attempting to make a difference in the society he lives in. In the beginning of the book Winston has a fear and hatred toward women. Throughout the story Winston begins to take bigger acts of rebellion towards his government and soon realizes how hard it is to make a change. 
Julia: 
Julia is Winstons girlfriend who has similar beliefs to him. She tricks people into believing she loves the government but really she hates it. - This book is similar to 1984 because it involves a girl who lives in a utopian society similar to Winston. Her problem though is that she is in love with someone who isn't the person she is "matched" with. I like the overall plot of the book and how you couldn't predict what was going to happen. 
Dislikes:
I did not like how the book ended, not because it was poorly written but because it wasn't what you expected to happen. 
Should You Read It?

While I was reading it, I was wondering if these things happen around me such as being watched and changing history. From the characters you can learn that some things may never change, but it is worth it to attempt to make a change. George Orwell is trying to express to people that we may never be as safe as we think we are and questioning the things happening around you is okay.
