    In some parts, yes because i do like fashion and music and to be going out etc. I agree with that i go with the flow however it said that i am at the bottom of the influence pyramid which i don’t agree with at all.

    I feel as if i do represent a Townie however i there's one point that i’m not that's included as a Townie, however i can’t find anything else that’s more me.

    Average person, who has days where they can dress casual but can also dress very nice, listens to the new music but also listens to the old 2000 tunes.  A person who can be energetic and go out to town with their mates and have a drink but can also have movie nights. The person who can be both.

    Tribe is a community of what you come from, can give a stereotype which can show what sort of person you are, however sometimes this assumptions are wrong.

    I have mixed emotions about being matched with the townie tribe. This is because although I agree with the majority of what is said about this tribe, such as I love my friends and family and my typically reality tv. However I don’t like the fact that I am supposedly at the bottom of the influence pyramid because I want to make a stamp on people at some point  in my lifetime, I don’t just want to be another person in the crowd who everyone forgets about.

    I would still agree that I am a townie as overall it represents myself and what is most important to me.

    I would say that i aspire to be either a styler or a rah because they are seen as a higher class and are therefore more respected than a townie would be. Also they are considered as stylish and above the trend, they live a life of luxury and I think that’s what everyone wants to aspire to.

    I want to most avoid the wasteman because that is my definition of exactly who I would never want to be and who I would never ever choose to socialise with. I would avoid them at all costs if I could. This is because they are bad people in my eyes and have a bad influence on me and others.

    Yeah I agree with the way the tribes are categorised because it makes it easier to breakdown the tribes and put yourself into one of them. However I don’t think that we should categorise people as it will lead to isolation from other social groups.

    I think that we should realise that many people can have different moods so will fall into various categories/tribes. Also everyone has a different upbringing, background and influences and that what makes us different to each other.

    When I hear the word tribe I think of a hunting tribe not a stereotypical people tribe for various people in society, so therefore I wouldn’t say its a suitable term because the tribes/ sub-cultures aren’t going against each other.

    1. Do you agree with the tribe you were matched with? If yes/no, why? Yes because I enjoy creating new ideas in fashion and I enjoy looking at cultural differences.

I do believe I relate most to a scenester as I don’t create music or protest like the other tribe’s do that relate to my given tribe. I also feel like I briefly relate to Ghetto goths however more aspire to be them. Fashion includes Dr Martens.

    I agree that people share similar characteristics to certain tribes, but i don't think that every person will necessarily exactly fit into a stereotype as everyone is individual.

    That people's personality changes as they mature, along with their style and opinions also, so not everyone will fit into a certain tribe their whole life.

    I do agree with the tribe that I am matched with because I can relate to the tribe’s description. I am a contented soul - I love my friends and family and hanging out with them when I can. I do like watching certain reality TV shows like I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! (when it’s on each year). I also work hard in everything I do, as it helps me achieve things in life.

    I do feel that the Townie tribe best represents my identity. As said above, I really care about my family and friends, and my education. I love to hang out with my friends when I can, as well as going out to town on the weekends and half-terms. I do tend to buy items of clothing that are of the current trend and listen to the latest music.

    I don’t really aspire to any other tribe as I feel that none of the other tribes link to who I really am.

    The tribe I would most like to avoid would be the “Wasteman” because this tribe is rebellious, loud and a bit dodgy, which is the complete opposite of my personality. “Wastemen” do activities that are against the norm, and would end up leading to a prison sentence if caught by the police, particularly shotting weed.

    I do agree with the way tribes are categorised because it will be able to help a person be able to define themselves with their use of media. I do use media a lot, particularly on my phone everyday. I do like to buy branded clothing, especially from Superdry because of the way they design their clothes and the fabric that they use. In terms of social activities, I try to get out as often as I can, even if its going to football games, going out with friends on weekends and spending time at events with family.

    A person’s identity should be considered as a factor because its who a person is that defines them. If they are a kind, sweet-hearted person, then they would be put into a category that suits them.

    There isn’t really a difference between both terms as they both show a way in which we define ourselves.  A tribe sounds like a group that have a family element, whereas a subculture is a more defined version of a tribe.

    Yes I would agree with the tribe I was matched with because I’m into comics, manga and ‘nerdy’ stuffs.  My interests are of a niche audience/fanbase and I’m very passionate about them, taking no notice about other people’s (who don’t fully know or understand) opinion of them or of me.

    Superfan because I’m more relatable to the people within this tribe and feel more comfortable in this tribe. But also I feel I’m a bit of the Cosplayers tribe (although I don’t cosplay) I really like reading manga and watching anime.

    Wasteman because it’s a mixture of tribes of which people already frown upon, it’s seems quite violent and always seems to end in illegal acts.

    1. Do you agree with the tribe you were matched with? If yes/no, why? I agree with the tribe I was given because playing sport is a key aspect of my week and how I keep healthy. It is part of my identity and allows me to be social with a larger range of people.


    1. What tribe do you feel best represents your identity (honestly!) I would say that the tribe(s) that best represent my identity are sports junkie and townie. I would say sports junkie because I like to do exercise and keep fit and sport is part of my daily life. I would also say townie because although I’m not one to set trends and be one step ahead of everyone else, I like to hop onto the latest trends that are already set and ready for me to jump on to. And as I get the bus to college that seems to be an aspect of being a townie(!).

This is because I enjoy going to football on a weekend and like to follow the trends once they become ‘the thing’ and are predictable. Also, I am not the type of person that feels that they need to post their whole life all over Instagram, Twitter etc which means I am similar to the new casuals because they do ot like the idea of hype and broadcasting their whole lives. 


    1. What tribe would you most like to avoid fitting into and why? A tribe I would most definitely avoid fitting into would be ‘wastemen’. This is because they have such a bad reputation in society and before you have even contributed anything to society people are already looking at you differently because of the tag/label you have given yourself by choosing this style. Wastemen are a combination of all the tribes I would completely avoid - chavs and trackies aren’thow I’d choose to show myself in society. Wastemen are notoriously known for weed and drugs and this is not me because I know the health effects of this and will completely avoid these drugs at all costs. They also wear knock off clothes and trainers and I prefer to spend a bit more on shoes/trainers because it often means the quality is enhanced.

Do you agree with the way the tribes are categorised i.e brands, media consumption, social activities… Some tribes such as sports junkies and new casuals you don’t see in the media as much and online because they are not creating anything new or causing controversy. However, tribes like vloggers and activists are much more exposed because they are doing more to change society. For example, vloggers can have millions of viewers/followers, and their fans will listen to any advice a vlogger gives them, whether it be fashion or food. This means that they have much more power over parts of society and have a certain degree of control over how people act. Also, activists are in the media much more because they are often protesting controversial matters which means that there are a lot of people that disagree with what they are doing. I don’t fully agree with the way that most tribes are exposed in society but that is part of contemporary culture and each tribe should be finding ways to get past some negative press.

They are similar to new casuals because they are both football mad but they are much more football and drinking orientated and part of their culture is going to football at a weekend to fight and get drunk. They wear trainers and clothes such as adidas classics as it is a symbol of hooliganism in their subculture.

I think the word ‘tribe’ makes it seem more individual and as if there are sub-subcultures.
