Governments of some western states, where large portions of land are federally owned oppose Federal Land regulation because the fought to obtain land from the federal government and encouraged resource extraction and development on the land. Another group that oppose Federal Land regulation is the wise-use advocates because they had dedication to private property rights, government regulation, moving federal land to state, and promoted motorized recreation on public lands. Many wise-use advocates was farmers, ranchers, and trappers who lived off the land, so with Federal Land regulation they could not survive.

Mrs.B.:Yes Cheyanna, you have mentioned many who have protested because it affects their livelihood. How could we continue access to these resources without depleting or changing them drastically?:/

Wise-use protestors want to obtain state owned land to do things such as extract resources and develop. The federal government has debates with these groups, saying that activities can disturb wildlife. These wise-use movement groups ultimately are concerned with the preservation and conservation of the land.

Many in the United States oppose Federal Land regulation because it limits the recreational activity use of wild land. Wise-use protesters are a group of people who seek to retain rights to land on private, state or local levels, so that the land can be exploited to their pleasing. Many wise-use protesters are made up of miners, prospectors, trappers, farmers and ranchers, who depend on the land for their well-being. To an extent they should be able to make a living, but not to the point that it harms the ecosystem. Environmental groups are against wise-use protesters because of their intent to extract from the land. However, in recent years the federal government has focused less and less on land preservation, and federal decisions have been made that are devastating to the environment. It's becoming more and more evident that environmentalists and wise use protesters have a common enemy.

Yes but do they still want free-rein to use the resources as THEY please? Where do we draw the line?

You're right Danielle, during the Bush era big corporations really got in the revolving door and have muscled their way into congress, pushing to exploit all natural resources, so we have to limit exploitation somehow, through legislation, don't you think?

Wise-use protestors consist of farmers, trappers, miners, and ranchers. They promote the industrial use of public land over the conservation and preservation of its natural state. They believe that the resources are given to them and theres no limit to how much they can take. In all reality though some resources are nonrenewable and willl eventually run dry. If nothing is done to conserve our environment we will send ourselves in downward spiral for destruction. We can't keep taking things witthout putting them back.

Manyoppse Federal Land Regulation because they believe that it should be used for recreational purposes. Also those who oppose the wise-use movement want to be able to use the land to retrieve the resources. They also wanted to make developments on it. Those that opposed federal land regulation were mostly farmers, trappers and ranchers. They were the ones who relied on the land more so then anyone else.

Wide-use protesters want to gain state-owned land for recreational and business reasons. There are many who oppose Federal Land regulation. One of the larger opposes would be the federal governments in the Western states. In the western states, the government owns much of the land. They have debates with the protesters saying the wildlife will be disturbed.

Farmers,ranchers,trappers, and mineral prospectors who live off the land drive to extract more resources and secure control of lands, and expand recreational access to public lands.
