What helps me in my classes is the most obvious the internet. I am able to look up what I do not understand and find answers on my own. There is also the use of Chat GPT that can be a resource, but I do not count it as the most reliable. It's like a mini instructor at your fingertips but it can be wrong.

Could it be used in teaching?

I feel we need to do more about teaching how to use AI appropriately and how to spot fake news and AI generated media. As of late on Facebook sometimes it's easy to spot an AI generated video or picture and other times it's not so easy.

What instructional practices by your teachers have helped you succeed in the classroom?

Activation of prior knowledge and sharing of background information. Breaking down vocabulary and the use of multimedia to teach a topic. I liked being able to listen to podcasts and that is a new tool that helped me in my classes. Looking at research papers, I found useful in some classes and frustrating in others. Some gave you a list to choose from others just said go look for yourself. I understand at a college level we should be able to do this but it just leads to a lot of questions sometimes.

Hi Mandy! I really loved your description of ChatGPT. a ' mini instructor at your fingertips' while to acknolwdge its you know reliability issues. I think this ties into maloys digittal 4th edition and that discusses how digital literacy is indeed a crucial skill for the Gen Alpha students. I like how you have mentioned ' activation of prior knowledge' thats a good instructional practice:). From the text book its a key part for inquiry-based learning using technology not only to just find answers. Do you think students using AI can help them brainstorm ' background connections'?.

Using tools like Microsoft 365 and or Google Workspace will allow a anytime and anywhere access, which, in fact, our author Maloy indetifies those as a hallmark of modern education. Application in teaching: these will be used in facilitating the "Pull" technology. This is where we will have students take initiative in finding resources with their peers on shared documents. Instructional practice for success. Our author Maloy does an amazing job on emphasizing how technology is most effective when its paired with student-centered instruction. Rather than teachings lead with lectures. Practice is to mention out there differentiated instruction that's supported by tech. For instance, let's say a teacher is using the text-to-speech digital method. This allows students now with different learning needs to be able to access same level of curriculum. When connecting to LRE. By using all of these practices us teachers will ensure our students are "serviced in least restrictive environment". Therefore, the technology will remove all those barriers that would lets say, require the student to be pulled out of their general education classroom.

Technology that helps me strive in my classes is he use of Google! Not just the search bar for research purposes, but its awesome technologies. Such as Google docs or slides. It has become so easy to spell check, or grammar check on google docs. It is amazing to repent my work and research on google slides by adding a creative twist to it. It for sure could be used in teaching. Slides are pretty effective when teaching if you do it correct. Different instructional practices that has helped me by teachers is using brain pop. It provides a fun video with fun games regarding the topic we just learned, and a fun quiz. Also Quizlet and Kahoot are amazing technologies that make learning fun and actually memorable. It is much easier to memorize my work on these platforms!

Technology that has helped me strive in my classes are interactive learning tools that give me immediate feedback. For example, Kahoot is a tool that lets students know the answers to questions in real time and shows instant results. Like Kahoot, these tools help me know if I understand a concept or if I need to keep trying. I think this technology could be useful for teaching because it helps student see their progress and encourages active learning.

Teachers have helped me succeed by breaking lessons into small, manageable parts instead of giving me too much information at once. This approach makes it easier to understand each part of the lesson and prevents me from feeling overwhelmed.

Receiving notification when I turn in an assignment, a teacher posts an update on Brightspace, or something is due, helps me to remain on task and remember what it is that I have achieved. I think this could be useful for teaching in the aspect of reaching out to families and creating a familiar connection with them, but the age of the student depends on if outlook would be useful to them directly. This technological advancement is also one that helps me succeed and remain on track in my busy life.

Technologies that have helped me strive in class are google and quizlet. I believe that google and quizlet can help students strive because if a student is given a project they will most likely go to google to research their topic and look up things they are unsure about. Quizlet can help student prepare for a test, they can create flashcards and quiz themselves. You can even type in your textbook along with the chapters on quizlet to see if someone else uploaded practice test questions.

One of the instructional practices my teachers used to help me succeed was giving me instant feedback on my assignments and letting me be able to go back and fix any mistakes so I wasn't stressed out and wondering how well or bad I did, this boosted my confidence in every way possible.

The technology that has helped me the most to strive in classes is google docs and organization tools (google classroom/Brightspace). When looking at teaching younger kids that might not use the same websites or technological tools that we, as college students have, there are still similar things that can be used, like google classroom. I have used google classroom before when I was younger for many of my in-class and homework assignments that were meant to be done independently. I think google classroom can definitely be used when teaching students, especially younger students because it offers an organized way of learning that is concrete and familiar. Instructional practices that have helped me throughout my educational career has been clear directions and communication with my instructor. Having something like brightspace helps a lot, as it can be used to organize assignments that I know are there and concrete and have directions that help me to complete them without feeling any confusion.

Technology I have used in the classroom is quizlet and ixl. In school when it came to a test coming up remembering information never came easy to me. I always had to study so using quizlet really helped the matching and flash cards. I struggled with math my entire life so doing ixl on my own improve in the topics I didn’t know when my teach wasn’t there. When I got an answer wrong it explained to me what I got wrong which was helpful.

Another that helped with my writing is Microsoft word doc because when I wrote an essay it corrects you when there is better word to use like ‘to put that skill in’ instead use ‘to implement that skill into you too. When you spell a word a red line will show and when you click it, it will give suggestions on what you’re trying to spell.

When my teachers would do guided practice or an exercise where they showed a visual how to things like a math problem or when teacher showed videos on explaining something like an historical event for social studies or explaining the main theme in literature.

Technology that helps me strive in my classes is things like Grammarly and Pulse. Grammarly is a program that helps me organize my thoughts when writing to make my sentences more comprehensive. Pulse allows you to access Brightspace through your phone, and it sends you notifications when a due date is approaching, when a grade gets posted, and when an announcement is posted. This helps me stay on task with reminders for assignments that need to get done.

Grammarly can be used in the classroom because it not only shows how to make a sentence more comprehensive but also provides immediate feedback as to how it can be improved. A similar program to Pulse is having Google Classroom on a student's device, which similarly sends notifications for grades being updated, announcements being posted, or upcoming due dates.

An instructional practice that has helped me succeed in the classroom is clearly laying out expectations and having road maps for assignments laid out before starting a new unit. This helped because it clearly showed what we would be doing during the unit, so there wouldn't be any surprises for projects or assignments.

The obvious ones are of course Google, Brightspace, and Microsoft, but I'd like to talk about Quizlet today.

Quizlet was helpful for me during my classes because it allows for engaging ways to study. For me sitting at a computer and going over notes simply was not engaging enough for my brain to grasp anything. Traditional methods of study got me almost nowhere. Quizlet introduced the idea that studying could be fun. The application offers or at least used to offer games that could be used to review. Suddenly I was able to master skills that required memorization. This helped most in my AP classes that crunched huge amounts of content into short time periods.

This application is beneficial for any grade and provides a new and fun way to review content. Before they put most of the application behind a paywall I found it to be a really useful tool.

A technology that helps me strive is cloud-based collaborative software (I had to look this up) more commonly known as google docs. Google doc allows real time feedback and teamwork. I use this as a note taker, a sign up sheet, and also a place to write out assignments. This can be used in teaching to facilitate "pull" technology routines where students actively retrieve and edit shared resources during group projects.

The practices that have helped me succeed most are those based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), specifically flexible forms of expression. I find it most beneficial when teachers allow me to demonstrate my knowledge through different presentations rather than just basic traditional tests where there's only one answer, and its ABCD, or a short response, I would rather use different types of showing my learning as it helps to show all different learning preferences and reduces my performance anxiety on tests.

Making my own flashcards and even using other peopls sets on the website helped me study so much. Because quizlet allows you to learn the material in a variety of ways it makes it easier and less annoying to study. Gemini has helped me set up essay outlines and many other things. If I need some creative ideas to start me off Gemini always helps me out. It also helps me out with textbook readings when something seems super complex it can dumb it down so I truly understand it. Both of these programs can be used in teaching as Quizlet can be used to helps students study with their text-to-speech matching game. This turns dry material into a multisensory experience. Gemini can be used in the classroom by using it as a personal learning assistant. If the textbook or article or material is to wordy or harsh for your students they can use Gemini to re-level the text.

What was most helpful in my classes was quizlet and google. Google just has so many purposes. Such as google slides, docs and search bar in general. Quizlet is an awesome tool for studying in general. You can either create your own or there is public premade ones which is so cool. These different technology platforms have really helped me get through school and stay organized.

Some instructional practices my teachers have used that benefited me were visual aids and reminders through email. I easily get confused so providing examples really helps. I also have a very busy life so I forget easily. A simple reminder goes a long way for me!
