Creative experiences like art-making, storytelling and imaginative play that take place surrounded by nature help learners build a personal connection to their environment by encouraging them to respond emotionally, not just intellectually.

When we draw what we notice, we create characters inspired by plants, or write stories about the natural world with empathy and understanding. Deepening observation skills and beginning to see nature as something that we are a part of, not just living alongside of.

These creative processes also support wellbeing by providing a calming, expressive outlet for thoughts and feelings, helping students build confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging.

By blending nature with creativity, students can form lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the environment which is shown to support both emotional wellbeing more pro-environmental behaviours as connection to nature increases.
