Although I'm not willing to go all the way to my childhood pains, because I'm cursed with "Near Total" recall; I'll just use a recent example.
I was called down to the principal's office over $37.14, due to the fact that I had not responded "In-Time" to the district accountants on the whereabouts of these funds; they were Menard's refund checks totaling the aforementioned amount and had just misplaced them in my office. However, I had to sign a "Tennessen Notice" before they would even tell me what it was about; in short - they were accusing me of mishandling $37.14.
I found the rebate checks and spent them that week, but my pride / honor was already damaged. I told my principal he was just responding to the district, but I truly had a problem with that event.

Objectively, from the "Fly on the Wall's" perspective, this was a situation of my own making and totally within my control to prevent going forward, but it still hurts. I'm a man of integrity & honor, and I was deeply insulted by the entire transaction.

Let's assume the fly on the wall has no idea what the situation is and is there to observe the administrative practice...
The observer may see a multitude of behaviors from the subject the administrator is speaking to...and very few from the administrator.
An observer in my office will understand my approach as someone who will connect with the individual and stay on task toward the purpose of the meeting. The information presented may be great...or it may not...(eye of the beholder).
I want to stay on point...the observer will see a well thought meeting plan unfold, the purpose will be delivered, and any emotions, other than humility and humbleness, that arise will not be coming from me. Typically, an Administrator will know, given the information presented, what the feedback may be. I have hired people...and I have non-renewed...you could imagine there can be two different outcomes in this brief description.

First, I want to apologize for my last minute responses to this week's work. Our new school year started yesterday, so things have been a bit crazier in my world. :-)

Now onto the assignment:
Last week I received a call from my principal. I had been at a meeting earlier in the week that included some members district curriculum members, as well as the building academic coaches. Apparently, one of the district curriculum members made reference to how awkward and uncomfortable the meeting was because of a coaches behavior. The HR director called my principal to see if he knew anything (he was the only admin. back to work)...when he didn't, he called me to ask for my observations about the meeting. We spoke about the events and how the two people involved have had a challenging relationship and how actions from both (which were really rather minor, like asking a question) lead to assumptions about intent being made, and then feelings getting hurt.
