Researchers have recently shown that infected individuals can spread oral gonorrhea or oropharyngeal gonorrhea through kissing. However, gonorrhea still isn't classified or widely accepted as a kissing disease; public health authorities still only consider it to be spread orally through oral sex.

Adults with gonorrhea are treated with antibiotics. This antibiotic can be given through injection and or oral. Due to emerging strains of drug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacterium that causes gonorrhea, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that uncomplicated gonorrhea be treated with the antibiotic ceftriaxone.

How long does gonorrhea last?

Symptoms of gonorrhea will usually improve within a few days, although it may take up to 2 weeks for any pain in your pelvis or testicles to go away completely. A woman with bleeding should see improvement after her next menustration.
