"Hello, children! Today, we're going to explore the wonderful world of rhyming words. Rhyming words are words that have the same ending sounds.

In the lesson we will look at the rhyming couplets in Zog, our class text and find the rhyming words before thinking of our own examples. eg. Can you think of any words that rhyme with 'cat'?"

Rhyming words: cat, hat, mat, sat, bat

Then we will write them into sentences and make rhyming couplets.

Sentence 1: The cat sat on the mat. Sentence 2: I wear a hat when I play with my bat.
