In Singapore, there are not many ways of being successful other than studying hard and getting a good job. Since I was young, I have been taught to only study and work as something of my parent’s choice. I was forbidded freedom and a choice of my own job. Except for some people, who were able to get creative and succeed with their own choice of job. Some renowned celebrities who started their own franchises like Jack Ma, owner of Alibaba and Colonel Sanders, creator of the KFC food chain which is located all around the world. Therefore personally, I would feel that i am only able so study hard and succeed into a job my parents wanted. I have always had a thing for music. But i was denied the opportunity to develop my talents as a musician. I was suppressed my choice due to what my parents wanted me to develop into. However, i respect their choice and also feel that it is not easy to succeed in the field of music in singapore as compared to studying. My talents in Singapore will only be showcased in the country and not promoted widely.

When my parents enrolled me into a piano class, I was ecstatic. However the consequence to that was an even more stressful life that it already was. Hence after a few years, I decided to drop the class as the insurmountable stress overtook my life. Piano lessons started getting hectic when they introduced theory work and exams, which I obviously was oblivious to. After a few months it started to take a toll on my school life and made it harder for me to juggle between studies and learning music. After all the time I spent in the piano class, I couldn't see the fruits of my labour and I decided to drop it. Perhaps I should have been more patient and learnt to manage my time better, but it's too late to turn back now. People often say that with good grades, it would bring you a successful life. Most people have said that academics is someone’s number one priority. However, to me, i feel that it is not necessarily the case. Yes, it is true that studying hard is important for students. Yet, it mught not be the case when we enter out adulthood. In singapore, there are schools that allow students to major in music, together with their regular school subjects. It is unfair to say that studying hard is more important as there are people out there who are not well educated yet is still successful in playing musical instruments in his/her life. For example, Louis Armstrong, a famous trumpeter, dropped out in high school. Yet, he became a famous trumpeter and was successful in life. 
Despite all, i feel that those studying hard is essential in some people’s life. Studying hard helps people to have a wider knowledge and higher qualifications.

Studying hard enables people to have a better job prospect . Having better job prospects allow them to have higher income which lead to better quality of lives. 

Studying hard can also eqiupped us with knowledge that plays a vital role in our lives. This will allow them to be able to adapt to the living of the third world country 

However, playing musical instrument is also important but not as critical as studying hard. Playing the instrument will not be able to secure the living standard that you desire. Having to play musical instrument as a career may not ba as stable as the other occupation that requires you to study hard. It’s also limits your choice of career
