Apple over the years has hurt society. Some problems include poor work conditions such as health and safety risks, child labor, and inadequate environmental reporting. However, a recent Stanford study of the newly released Apple Vision Pros shows that wearing them repeatedly for long periods could cause extensive brain damage. Many studies show that the Apple Vision Pros may rewire or distort how they perceive the world.

DUE TO this recent study many people are voicing their opinions against this headset. For 48 years Apple has been getting a lot of criticism towards the way they handle child labor. But on April 18, 2024, an Apple lawsuit was filed in Washington, D.C., by nongovernmental organization International Right Advocates.

This lawsuit was DUE TO Apple committing “forced labor” Child miners argued that Apple purchased cobalt, which is used in producing lithium-ion batteries. EVER SINCE 2007 when Apple originally released their newest invention the iPhone, it has been a popular hit among the whole population. But some people don't know the risks you take when purchasing one. Apple iPhones emit radio-frequency radiation, know to cause health risks later on in life. Because of this risk, many people are concerned about buying from Apple. Not only does this phone transmit radiation but also causes headaches, decreased attention, shortness of temper, sleep disorders, and depression. IN CONCLUSION, Apple Inc. has led to many major human impacts throughout Apple's history.

Apple has been criticized repeatedly because of the environmental damage done to the earth. Such as using hazardous materials in their iPhones, climate change, and dumping unused phones into landfills.

The total waste generated by Apple just in 2021 was 59,420 which is an increase of over 15% of the past years. MANY of Apple's suppliers are based in China, which has a reputation for poor environmental practices and labor regulations. Apple says that 70% of its carbon emissions come from manufacturing alone. According to Apple's environmental progress report, it produced the equivalent of 20.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide just in 2022 alone. Apple is currently trying to reduce its carbon footprint while it's still contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. This includes emissions from factoring, transportation, and energy usage. This goes to show how much Apple is contributing to waste and climate change. Apple's extensive global supply chain involves various suppliers. Some have been criticized for their environmental practices. WHILE Apple's supplier responsibility they are currently struggling to adhere to high environmental standards. IN CONCLUSION, Apple has taken significant steps to address this issue. They are currently still working on creating a positive environmental impact this year.

How can we solve the problem

There are major problems that lead to solutions involved in Apple Inc. The main ISSUE is the cost of their products. Many people can't afford the latest iPhone and drop a generous amount of money. A SOLUTION to solve this PROBLEM would be to lower the price sale of the iPhone to be accessible to the average person. Some other problems considered contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, are water usage, forced labor, and major plastic usage. One SOLUTION for water usage is to not just take water from the regions struggling with shortness of water but, take water from regions with increased amounts of water. Another SOLUTION for greenhouse gas emissions is to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide being produced from factories, machines, etc. One other major PROBLEM is how the newest product the Apple Vision Pros can cause extensive brain damage after long wear time. A SOLUTION to this PROBLEM is to design a more wearable, less brain-damaging device that works just as well. Consumers should also wear it for short periods to cause less damage. In conclusion, Apple currently struggles with many problems that damage the company. But many solutions solve this difficult problem.

Through writing these informational paragraphs I have concluded that Apple has done MANY negative and positive things. I will change my opinion about Apple because most of their high-tech devices have negative side effects and negative outcomes. Another reason is that Apple has participated in global warming which has given the earth a negative environmental impact. ALTHOUGH Apple is currently trying to achieve a better eco-friendly business there is still work to be done. A point that majorly affected my opinion on Apple is their water usage. This is BECAUSE Apple's manufacturing process requires significant amounts of water from regions with scarce water. This causes a loss of water from regions that mainly need it. OVERALL, my opinion about Apple Inc. has generously grown through research. I will change my behavior to continue to help the environment thrive and further not buy Apple products until the environmental sustainability and human impacts improve.
