War uproots and adultery have given us certain styles of Furniture that America needed at the time with the expanded cities and modernized way of living. There was a huge demand for a contemporary, quicker built homes: Eichler Home Designs in California. Along with the modernization, there were new technological advancements making it possible for new textures, colors, effects and forms.
2. With the simplistic look that MCM gives us a classic and understated view of the furniture. The form follows a constructed function and goes throughout the whole of the furniture along with sleek and uncluttered geometric lines/shapes. A simple look is created by the "minimal ornamentation" and a traditional overview of the modern materials.
3. Construction and the materials used such as newer plastic and wood had modernized and influenced the creations of designers. Plastic was a huge impact because it could replace the wooden furniture. The traditional material sometimes used to give it the mid century look would be wood, metal, glass, vinyl, plywood, Plexiglass and Lucite. Colors would be neutral to bold and sometimes black and white because of the old modernized look created after the war.
4. Distinguishing features of the style and finding other furniture that may not be MCM is a huge step in furnishing in this style. A lot of pieces have been adapted and had been replicated from the MCM era which are good ways of finding in-budget furniture. Vintage and MCM go well together but they are NOT the same. For wood, it is important to stay in the good color range as they have a repeated pattern and look odd with different color forms.
Some famous designers include Herman Miller, Knoll, and Vitra.

Along with relationship between people and "man-made" machines around them such as, in this case, it would be the Mid-Century Modern furniture pieces. Due to the ergonomic standards of furniture, some items may over designed or under designed. Looking at MCM furniture, we can see that although they fit to the people's needs and have a proactive use, they can have a unsupported area for one focus of the body. Using the different colors on the external and internal is a unique way of designing because it embodies the ideas of the Alphabet-inspired design. Bertoia explains his foci on shapes according to the Knoll article, "One was taking the shape of a side chair; another was beginning to extend to care of the head." I like the fact that Bertoia imbibed the spirit of ergonomics so that there was comfort and style in the shapes. During the time, the market for industrial wires and prices for wires decreased as a new modern age was coming with it's new technology. Bertoia's side chairs presents the mid century view by using these materials in creating an adapted chair that's great for outdoors and indoors as well. What I liked about this design is that Bertoia says, "If you look at the chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture, space passes through them.” This shows his mindset and creative thoughts behind this piece of furniture because air is literally passing through the chair. Jacobsen had the ability to go out of his restraints and create fluid curves and molded shells. From the arms of the sofa, to the legs, there is a wonderful structure that provides a strong base and a fluent style throughout the whole piece. I liked this chair because Saarinen was challenged to create a perfect lounge chair by Knoll, another famous designer. I like that the legs are pretty thin instead of the long rods that would be connected to the drawer. I think the style is nice for a bedroom finish because it has a stable base with a big enough circular marble base that can be incredible for any uses. What I like about this design is the antique bronze finish which gives the old/new look that can be well rounded to any theme.
